Change Can Be Beautiful

Happy Weekend!  It's a beautiful day here today and my daughter and me are off to volunteer for a wonderful program called Rise Against Hunger but before we head off I want to share a fun project with you!

I stamped the fabulous New Leaf stamp set from The Project Bin with the chalkboard technique for this fun 3D project.

I love that there is a little leaf in this stamp set that can be added to any of the sentiments!

I am also playing along with this week's Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper, FS556 - Jeannie {aka Lv2grdn}I love seeing Jeannie's pretty cards in the galleries each week!  Congrats, Jeannie!

Have a beautiful day and remember the change you might not be looking forward to just might be a beautiful thing!!!

Joyful Song and a Sketch!

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for some fun with the sketch challenge, SC644 at Splitcoaststampers!  This week our sketch is brought to us by the oh so talented, Ally!

When I saw the oval for this sketch, I immediately thought how it would be a perfect fit for one of the eye-catching sentiments from the Joyful Song stamp set by The Project Bin.

To create the background I sponged Distress Oxide Broken China and Cracked Pistachio then spritzed and splattered the paper with water.  I love these colors for a non-traditional looking Christmas card!

I am playing along with Simon Says Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes

Thanks for stopping by!

Why not Pink?

Happy Weekend!  I was browsing blogs yesterday and stopped by Brian King's blog.  He has the prettiest card featuring a fun sketch so I thought I would play along with the challenge...........and then things went awry.  Once I was in the photo editing process I realized I didn't care for the card.  I loved the sketch, loved the sentiment but somehow something didn't look right.  My daughter confirmed my suspicion, it was ugly!  Rescuing the sentiment and pink layering, I started again.  Since I rescued the sentiment which was framed in pink, I decided why not add more pink layering!  Apparently, some of Brian King's beautiful work stuck with me as I surrounded my sweet sentiment with pink!  For the background, I chose paper similar to Beverly's paper strips on THIS card.
Beverly aka ruby-heartedmom  is this week's FS555 at Splitcoaststampers.

Today's design features the fabulous sentiment aptly titled New Leaf by The Project Bin.  I love that there is a second leaf included in the set which adds dozens of design possibilities!

I hope you have a great weekend and maybe even try turning over a new leaf, you never know what you mind find!

A Sketch and some Unity too!

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new sketch challenge at Splitcoaststampers!  Carey created today's beautiful sketch SC663.

I stamped Angie Blom's "Dream of Being" girl, then made a watercolor wash background, next I watercolored the image with Inktense pencils.  I just love this Angie Girl.  She also comes with the sentiment "Be Strong and Courageous" and I love that one too.

I dream of becoming more loving, brave, joyful and creative.
So what do you dream of being, I would love to know!

Have a wonderful rest of the week!

You're Beautiful

Happy Weekend!!! I hope this weekend is less stressful for all of you than last week!  It certainly is at our house!  Our daughter seems almost back to normal after konking her head except for a bit of tiredness.  She made it a half day and then two whole days to school so woohoo!  Irma actually came in helpful for her as we had two days off school and she was able to rest two extra days!

For my card this weekend I am combining the CTS#239 challenge,  F4A395 challenge aand Simon Says Stamp Wednesday -CAS challenge.  Dawn challenged us to create a card with encouraging words and immediately thought of this sentiment from the #bff stamp set by The Project Bin.  I love it!  We use a lot of nice words with our friends but it's not often we actually say "you're beautiful" so I love using this one!

Now I am off to spend the day with a few of my beautiful friends at a Beth Moore Simulcast!   I hope you have a great day and just in case no one told you, YOU'RE beautiful!

Zombie Awareness Month

The first time I saw this image and sentiment in the Creepy Halloween set, I cracked up!  I couldn't wait for this set to arrive so I could create some Zombie cards.  But then I didn't.  Decorating the house with spiders came first and then The Project Bin released the New Leaf set and I was busy creating with that set until finally this week it was zombie time!  What makes my love for this zombie set funny is the fact that I don't care for scary movies or books.  No prison movies, underwater movies, only on a VERY rare occasion do I watch a sad movie and absolutely NO scary movies/tv shows.  Then came The Walking Dead.  I don't know how it happened but my son and I became addicted.  At the time we only had Netflix and no other channels so we could watch several episodes at a time!  We are actually still behind so NO spoilers, please.  College has definitely driven a stake through our mother/son tv time!  :)  Muahahaha see what I did there?

To create the background I stamped ink on acetate, spritzed with water then dabbed the ink on the paper.  Using Acetate allows for a little more control than my usual favorite technique of swishing cardstock through watery ink.  Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Stay safe out there and be aware of your zombies!

Our Talks

Hello, everyone!  It's Wednesday and that means time for the Splitcoaststampers sketch challenge! Today's beautiful SC661 challenge was designed by Cathy.

I am featuring the gorgeous cup from the Unity Stamp Co. Kit, Our Talks.
I am a big fan of china plates and cups.  I don't know why they spark my imagination.  The smoother the glaze the more I love it.  I love to hold them in my hands.  Yeah, I am a little nutty over dishes and cups!  When I saw this kit I just had to have it.  How many good talks have happened over a cup of tea or coffee!

I chose the papers because they make me think of wall paper in a fancy dining room.  I stamped the cup in Memento Nautical Blue but the blue didn't match the papers so I stamped over the top with Memento Tuxedo black.  To my surprise, the cup still has hints of blue but the black turned the color enough to match the papers!

I hope you have a fabulous day!

Pumpkins Please!

I have had the pumpkin and sentiments sitting on my MISTI for several weeks!  I arranged them and stamped them but didn't like the result and as often happens, I let the idea go and moved on to another one.  I believe it was the week, I created Woo to the Hoo. I stumbled upon the Inspiration Challenge at SCS and quickly switched gears!  So today was the day to create with this arrangement of stamps from New Leaf by The Project Bin.

I used the technique by Lydia (understandblue) called MISTI Marbling with just a hint of Lilac Roses Memento ink on top of Tangelo Memento ink.

I also used this week's SC660 for inspiration but this time I have the triangles on the correct corners!

Are you doing anything fun for the long weekend?  Our son came home last night.  He wasn't planning on visiting but then he surprised us.  We had such a fun time catching up and hearing what he is learning.  He suggested a "Lord of the Rings" marathon the next few days so we shall see if that actually happens!

Happy Weekend!
