Scarecrows, Spooks, and Snowmen—Oh My!

It’s Release Day at SweetMissDaisy Designs, and this one is hauntingly fangtastic! 🦇🎃

The new release includes three Halloween/harvest stamp sets, a sweet snowman set, and three gorgeous fall paper packs. You can peek at everything now in the SweetMissDaisy Designs Etsy shop.

I have three cards to share today, each one inspired by a different challenge and a different set from the release:

🍂  Happy Harvest
This handsome scarecrow from the Happy Harvest set is a SweeetMissDaisy Designs/Serendipity Stamps Partnership! I gave him a warm plaid background from the Harvest Mini Gingham paper pack. Since the Splitcoaststampers F4A811 challenge is “Brown,” I colored his shirt in shades of brown and tucked the same tone into his pumpkins and hat. A bat and moon float above, and the golden ribbon with a pumpkin charm ties it all together. Inspired by #ArtNudge 925B + F4A811.

👻 Open if You Dare

Boo! This card features three of the four adorable Halloween faces from the Open if You Dare set. I stamped them on tags, tucked the tags into a slotted die cut, and added the “boo” sentiment on a round die cut. The background paper is from the Halloween Mini Gingham paper pack. Inspired by #ArtNudge 925A. These faces are too cute to spook!

❄️ Umbrella Snowman

Oh, how I love this snowlady! The Umbrella Snowman set (SweetMissDaisy Designs + Serendipity Stamps) was such fun to play with. She’s holding a bright red umbrella trimmed in gold. The set includes extra snow, so I scattered flakes around the scene for a wintery look. The golden plaid background paper is from the Harvest Mini Gingham paper pack.  Inspired by a set of ornaments in the SCS Inspiration Challenge today.

Each of these sets is just brimming with charm, and I can’t wait to see what you create with them, too. 💕

A Simple Hi!

Hi!  I am back again AND once again I am hosting a challenge at Splitcoaststampers! I love seeing what everyone creates from the challenges!

This card features brand new dies from Impression Obsession.  I used this fun chicken wire in the background.  The tag is charming and the stitched plaid layer adds extra interest!  The sentiment die is simply cute as can be and the Black-eyed Susan looks fabulous with a blue center!

When I selected the site we are visiting today for the Inspiration Challenge my entranceway was overflowing with dorm room supplies!  My daughter designed her dorm room colors around the quilt her grandmother gave her as one of her graduation gifts. The quilt pattern features colorful mandalas so she coordinated pillows and a throw blanket given to her by a friend!  Her room looks so bright and colorful, just like my daughter!

I would love to know how you decorated your first living space away from home!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

If you click a link and you don't reach the store it might be down for a few hours on Saturday for maintenance!  Stop back by though because it will be back up in a few hours!

Time of Year

Yep, I can feel it creeping upon us, that time of year again when the spiders take over!  We have two big trees right near our front door and the spiders love to make webs between the trees.  I still can't figure out how they manage to spin a web that long-distance!  Every day we knock it down and every night it's back up again.  I seriously think they are trying to catch us and not little bugs!

So I am playing along with the Inspiration Challenge at SCS this week.  I found THIS dish and couldn't get it out of my head!  I love black and white.  As much as I love it, I decided to splash some color on my Fall sky with this amazing stencil.  The branch is sooo cool.  It actually looks good as a tree too! The spider is from this cute trick or treater set and it comes with a coordinating die.  I just wouldn't have been able to cut around those tiny feet so I love Picket Fence Studios coordinating dies! I used a grass stencil for the grass and the sentiment is from this fun set that has flying frogs, I love those frogs!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the last days of summer before Spider time of year is here again!

A Myth

Hello!  I am back!  Did you miss me?  :)  I just realized I had 7 posts last week, compared to this week's one post, I have been rather quiet!

We have had a very busy week.  First, we enjoyed watching our daughter sing and dance her way through Shrek the Musical.  Then we continued our decluttering and I am almost all the way moved back into my art space!

I have been stamping in here the last few days and I am loving my new workspace.  The cabinets have become my desk so I can stand while I work which takes the pressure off my back!  The cabinets line up along the wall giving me a lovely long space to work in.  I have noticed that I am not losing things I work on like I did before because I can spread out!  I will post photos once I have everything the way I want it!

So here I am today with a fun card for the Inspiration Challenge at SCS!   The Inspiration site this week is a bedding site with super creative bedding designs!

I decided to create a rainbow of sunshine using these blending brushes and this stencil.  Then I colored this groovy unicorn and added Wink of Stella to the horn and glasses. (Sadly my lighting doesn't show the sparkle.)  Next I die cut the unicorn and paired him with the fun myth sentiment from this set.

Thanks so much for stopping by today, have a great day and be so awesome that people think you are a myth!

Good Morning Sunshine!

Good Morning Sunshine!

Stacy is our hostess for the Inspiration Challenge at SCS this week!  She has chosen a huge site to inspire us!  I chose THIS photo to inspire my design!

I love the Spirals CC344 background stamp!  There are so many ways to use it!  I think it looks fabulous in gold and orange!    I also love this cute Good Morning Sunshine cup!  Who doesn't love coffee cups especially with sunshine on them!

From Owl of Us!

I am always fascinated by the art process.  Last week I struggled to create my Father-In-Law's birthday card and had to give up.  With this week's outdoor inspiration of the IC669 challenge  and the beautiful design of this week's MFT Sketch 404  I was able to create a card in no time with the pieces that I had set aside last week.

To create my scene, I stenciled the clouds with the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil.  I love using this stencil with 4 patterns of clouds!  It's especially easy to get great color blending using my Blender Brushes.  I tap my brush into the ink then tap the ink on the stencil before I move from the stencil to the paper.  The plastic stencil makes it easy to pick up the excess ink and blend it on the paper.  Next, I created a scene with the Wild Woodland stamp set and Wild Woodland Die-Namics

Merry Kitty

This week Brenda is our hostess for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers and she has chosen a fun inspiration site for us.  I was actually trying to create a card for my Father-in-law's birthday but it just refused to come together for me so at the very last minute, and I mean LATE last minute or maybe I should say EARLY in the morning last minute inspiration struck!  It's funny how I can struggle for hours in the creation process and all of a sudden I change images and boom, the card comes together in no time!

For the wreath, I used the retired Spring Wreath Die-Namics from MFT, then die-cut the bow from cherry cardstock and added highlights with Copic marker. The little berries were made with a small hole punch and covered with glossy accents.  Nuvo drops would be perfect here but when a girl doesn't have cherry red Nuvo drops she finds another way!   The kitty is one of the adorable felines in the Meow Mix stamp set by MFT.  I die cut her with ease using the Meow Mix Die-namics.  I love how easily the dies fit around the images!  I hate fussing with dies that end up cutting giving an uneven finish. I die cut just the Merry from the Merry Christmas Die-Namics.  I love the font and the price point makes it a must-have!

Thanks so much for stopping by, you are awesome!
