Fathers

Hello!  Today over at the SCS F4ALL Challenge we are celebrating moms and dads.  Neither of the sentiments in this post fit my family but I know they will strike a chord with many families.

Interestingly, I created this first card before the Ukrainian crisis, I just liked the color combo.  I will try and put away the heaviness of my heart for just a moment as I mention how cute the Necktie & Tie clips are!  It comes with several "tie clips" including this fun fish!  I also enjoyed using the Dress background stamp for the pattern on the tie and the background layers.

First up is this fun card for dad!  Oh, how I love this Scenic Hiker!  Such a gorgeous scene.  I popped all the large pieces out and colored them.  I die cut a plain white circle and placed the silhouette on top of the circle so I could see where to sponge color behind the trees.  Next, I adhered the silhouette onto the plain white circle.  After that, it was easy to add the larger pieces of back into the scene.  Lastly, I added DAD for my sentiment.

Next up is a super fun summer card!  I adore the new Stitched Speech Border!  The borders add extra fun to paper projects!  I stamped a sentiment from Beach Mode and layered the borders. Lastly, I created the super fun watermelon.  Now it's time to celebrate summer!

There is a lot of fun happening at IO this weekend.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Masculine Thank You

I get together with a small group of women every other week.  We have a great time of encouragement and laughter along with some serious talks.  One of our friends gave each of us a book her husband made for us from the curriculum we use.  It is so helpful to have the information in book form instead of having to connect online when we meet.  As a result of this sweet gift, I needed a masculine "thank you" card!

First, I found a "Freshly Made Sketch" from 2016.  I was excited to find a sketch with a circular shape so that I could use the new circular grunge stamp. I flipped the sketch so that the circular shape is on the lower portion instead of the upper.  Then I stamped one of the guys from this masculine set. I love this set because it makes it so easy to create interesting guy cards!  Next, I added the new seriously word die cut and stamped just the "thank you" of one of the sentiments from the masculine set.  I struggle with getting layers aligned evenly so I placed my small Cut Align ruler along the left edge of the card. There are plenty of measurements on the ruler so it was a snap to align the yellow layer 3/8 of an inch from the end of the left side of the card base.

This week Stacy is our hostess for the IC at SCS.  She has chosen a shoe store to inspire us and I found bright yellow low tops you can find more info HERE.

That's it for me today, thanks so much for stopping by!

IO Old is New - Father's Day

Today at Impression Obsession we are featuring our classic stamps!  When I saw this classic truck stamp I thought, Father's Day card.  I think I will also create a thank you card with it soon.
The orb in the background could be the sun but I decided to go for a moon and created an evening sky.  After coloring the sky blue I colored everything but the truck in grays. Did you notice there is a cat sitting on the barrel?  I love it!

The Impression Obsession team has set aside a couple days a month to share new projects using beautiful classic stamps. You can see the list of today’s participants on the Impression Obsession Blog at 6 am CT.

I am also playing along with today's CAS challenge at SCS - Go Outside.

Fork In the Road

Ha!  I had a hoot coming up with this!  The Project Bin and Eyelet Outlet had an Instagram Hop a couple of weeks ago and I selected a package of Silverware Brads with the idea of combining the fork with this sentiment from the Wise Men stamp set.  As I was pondering the creation of this card I came up with the idea to add the vintage car from Classic Man.  Which fork will he take I wonder?

That's it for me today.  If you are in the US I hope you had a lovely long weekend!

Unsafe at Any Speed

I am having so much fun creating masculine cards with the Classic Man stamp set by The Project Bin.  My husband is a CAS fan, I mean REALLY CAS so my challenge was to create a clean and simple card but do something different than I have done before.

The vintage auto in the Classic Man set just seems to be on the roll to me so it seemed like just the thing to add a road!  I stamped the auto then masked it.  I then took a piece of paper and angled it across the top of the cardstock and sponged Memento London Fog for the road.  Every sentiment in this set is fun so I was eager to use one I had not used before and stamped "unsafe at any speed" in the top corner!

This week's SCS Featured Stamper is Connie.  Connie's gallery is overflowing with inspiration.  I browsed Connie's gallery for a CAS card and found THIS.

To the Man, the Myth, The Legend

Today I am featuring the Classic Man stamp set by The Project Bin.  This is such a versatile set for masculine cards.  This set includes a Happy Birthday and a Father's Day greeting along with several greetings that can be used for any occasion.

This sentiment makes me giggle because around here it pretty much sums up my backpacking wanderer!  His coworkers and friends all know if he has a few days off, rain or shine, he's probably in the woods.

I had fun creating this with a paper stack I purchased last year.  I used the SC693 sketch for my design and cut cards from the paper to embellish the main space.  I added plaid paper to the three mini cards to add continuity to the focal point.

My husband's birthday is this week so I was delighted when I realized this set included a Happy Birthday greeting.  I stamped the Happy Birthday Greeting and layered it on more of the fun hiking trails paper on the inside of the card.

Here's a look at the entire stamp set!

Growing in Unity Day 2 - For the Guys

Hello, and welcome to day 2 of Growing in Unity!  I am taking a hard right turn from yesterday's soft and sweet images and backgrounds to a bold and vivid background featuring the For the Guys kit from Unity Stamp Co.  This kit is one of my favorite masculine kits which includes classic images and great sentiments.

For the background, I used a technique by Cathie called Paint Swiping found in the tutorial page at Splitcoaststampers.  I squeezed a bit of Midnight Blue paint onto my craft mat then with a folded baby wipe I picked up the paint and swiped it across the cardstock.  I did the same with Bahama Blue paint. When I was happy with the background I quit swiping and let dry.  Once dry I used a stencil and added modeling paste.
Thanks so much for stopping by today,  don't forget to leave a comment for another entry in the drawing for one of two great Unity Stamp Co. prize packages!

For the Teacher with The Project Bin

Hello!!  Happy weekend and happy summer for all those who graduated this week!  Here in our county, another school year has come to a close!  It's a little odd this year, doesn't seem quite real yet.  I am having all sorts of "end of school year" flashbacks.  Trips to the library,  summer playdates, free children's movies and even tutoring filled our summer days.  So different from this year as our oldest finished his first year of college and now has two summer jobs and our baby will fill her summer days with dancing and singing rehearsals for a summer play!  This time of year always makes me a little teary eyed! We made it!  We finished well!  Gulp, time is racing by!

One of the things that remain constant is a need for teacher appreciation gifts!  For the drama teacher, I pulled out the super fun stamp set, Wise Men from The Project Bin.

I thought the sentiment was so appropriate for someone teaching students to play different roles. Whatever you are doing, give it your all, be a good one!

I can't help it, I love this cute little bow tie!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, you make my day!
