Not Rushing, Just Painting!

Hi!

Don't get spooked by the Thanksgiving greeting; as a cardmaker, we get ahead of ourselves so our cards are ready for sending! This week, for the SCS Watercolor Wednesday, we are painting pumpkins! Brenda chose a Dina Kowal tutorial. I enjoyed painting my pumpkin with her pumpkin lesson. Since I have the same paper pack Dina used for her card, I decided using the same background paper she did would be fun!

Trick or Treat - August Team Favorites

It's Team Favorites! I had so many favorites from this month that it's hard to decide which one to feature, but here is a fun pumpkin card.  

I love stapling my ribbons to tags as it keeps the bulk slightly flatter than a big knot. For this one, I added several ribbons. The Stamp set used is Halloween Girls; the background is from the Trick or Treat paper pack. I stamped directly on the Bread Tag and added the sentiment on a Rounded Rectangle Layer.

Til the Clouds Roll By

Hello!  

This week, the Free 4 All Challenge is cloudy, with a chance of more clouds! In other words, we are featuring clouds on our projects!

I had so much fun with the Cloud/Grass stencil this past month! Take a look at the scene in this first card. I created mountains from the clouds by placing the stencil border upside down and sponging downward. Next, I turned the stencil the usual way and made clouds! The cloud stencil includes grass on one of the 4 sides, so an entire nature scene can be made with one stencil! I die-cut a Bare Branch, used the negative as a stencil, and then added the funny skeletons from Skeleton Boogie. The sentiment was stamped on the banner from the Deckled Frame set.   

Next, I made a border layer with the Cloud/Grass stencil and Distress Inks. I added a bit of splatter, and that was it. It's super easy and fun, too! The cute ghosts are from the Happy Haunting set! They are cute and easy to fussy cut, even for me! LOL

Bright & Bold - Product Focus - Stencils

It's time to shine the light on stencils!

For a bolder look, I love to use Distress Inks and Brushos (watercolor powder).  

First, I ink blend the stencil in the normal way.  Then I shake the watercolor powder onto the open areas of the stencil.  I spritz it with water leaving the stencil in place. I love the bright result.

Haunted No More

Hello everyone!  

I am on the My Sweet Petunia Blog today, excited about the newest precision tool in the My Sweet Petunia line!  

  

 In the past, I have purposely not purchased dies that cut super thin frames or words because of the glue mess, but the Precision Glue Press changes that! I loved how easy it was to adhere the tiny inner frame with the small Precision nozzle of the Precision Glue Press.

I am haunted no more by tiny die cuts or clogged glue bottles!  :) Instead, I will be Happy Haunting with cute bats!  

The cute bats and sentiment are part of the incredible August Release at Impression Obsession.  Creepy Kitty, Creepy Kitty Dies & Six in One Frame

Precision Glue Press

Tips:

Ensure the bottle is pressed all the way in the holder, or the precision tip will not make contact with the silicone pad allowing air in. This will cause the glue to dry at the end. 

I recap the bottle if I know I will be away from the art room for several weeks. Left several weeks unused, the glue may dry close to the end of the nozzle. However, a quick pin in the nozzle will allow the glue to, once again, flow freely.

Peace, Watercolor & Jack O Kitty for Day 2 of IO August Release Hop

Hello! It's Day 2 of the IO August Release Hop! Today I am featuring new encouragement stamp sets and another Halloween card!  

First up is peaceful Maidenhair Fern. The image is perfect for using unique markers that allow multiple color tones. I die-cut the panel with the Crazy Stitched Set.  

Next, I again used the Maidenhair Fern with watercolor for a different look. I paired the fern with the giant moth from Gentle Moths.  

Lastly, a Halloween card with the cute Jack O'Kitty stamp set and Jack O'Kitty Die. I used an Everyday Tag,  Scalloped Circles, and a circle from the Monster Face Die Sets to create a fun background. The patterned paper is from the Trick or Treat paper pack. 

All three kitty sets are adorable and coordinate well; they are Creepy Kitty and Witchy Kitty.

Hauntings & Monsters, Oh My! - Day 1 IO August Release Hop

Hello and welcome to this Spooktacular August Release.  Oh, my, what a Release it is!  Loads of new Halloween products plus much more!  We have new Monster Faces, fun Edges, and spooky sentiments to make any creature you wish!   Tomorrow I will share some sweet products that are not hauntings or monsters, but for today, let's get spooky!

First up, we have a fun Halloween set, Happy Hauntings.  To make the spooky sky, I masked the moon, and ink blended the sky.  Then I took the Snowfall Stencil and placed it over the background.  I took a wet rag and wiped over the snowy openings in the stencil.  I wanted enough moisture on my rag that water seeped underneath.  When I removed the stencil, this fantastic sky was the result!  

Next up is this fun skeleton card.  These skeletons are a hoot.  I used the Skeleton Boogie set. Once again, I masked the moon, and ink blended the sky.  This time I simply spritzed water over the Distress ink.  The final touch was a hat from the Birdies Die set, (currently on sale while supplies last!) positioned at a jaunty angle.  The sentiment was stamped on a Rounded Corner Sentiments 2 (currently on sale while supplies last!)

Last but in no way least, an example of the super fun Monster Face, Edges, and Monster sentiment sets!  Your imagination is the only limit to what you can make!

Exciting News!

 Woohoo!  There is exciting news to share from My Sweet Petunia!  

The Precision Glue Press is here!  I have had to keep quiet about it, but I have had the privilege of using it for a month!  I have had the glue press sitting on my desk without putting the cap on for most of a month!  I love that it doesn't dry out, and the tip is tiny enough to handle skinny die cuts and all my other gluing needs!!  

I will have a project here and on the MISTI blog on the 17th but for now, I want to show off my new favorite tool!

It's time for a new F4All Challenge at SCS, and we are on the farm this week! It's a free challenge, and we would love to see you there! 

I decided to use a background from my stash. It's been waiting since the beginning of the covid lockdown to be made into a card! I made several backgrounds then, experimenting with different colors and amounts of water. This one wasn't used until now.

The Country Tree Stamp creates a beautiful image and doesn't require much extra work.  A simple sentiment will finish off the card.  I used the banner included in the Deckled Tag Set, and the sentiment is from More Basic Greetings.

I Sea What You Did There - Product Focus on Dies

The IO Product Focus is all about dies!  IO has a fantastic array of dies, and they regularly add fun and innovative dies to the store!  

This week I am featuring one of my most often-used die sets, the Rounded Rectangle Layers.  I love the rounded corners; the stitching adds a finished look to any project. Also, the Rounded Rectangle layers on sale right now!  I am also a big fan of the Wacky Stitched Circles.  Again, the stitching adds a fun, finished look.  The Fish Net die is a fun embellishment for ocean/beach cards.

A Sweet Day

We are chilling this week at SCS!  What better way to cool off than yummy ice cream!

I used a gorgeous piece of paper from the Warm Watercolor Pack for the background and then paper-pieced the ice cream.  Yum!  The ice cream and sentiment are from Nola Chandler's Cherry On Top set.  For a fun design element, I used the Bread Tag.
