Celebrate Texture

Hello!  Happy Friday to you!    It's time for a new Free 4 All Challenge at Splitcoaststampers and we have chosen "texture" as our challenge.   

   To create my texture I mixed Golden Rose Paper Glaze with Paper Glaze Enhancer.  I love how easy it is to spread the mixture through the Slimline Broken Fence Stencil!  I used both the SLDC Scallop Frame Dies and the SLDC Nested Rectangle Dies for layering.  The SLDC Systems include so many dies that it makes them great buys!  As an example, the "celebrate" die is included in the Scallop Set! See the photo link at the bottom of this post for the list of dies included in these sets! For a fun embellishment, I die-cut Maple Leaves and painted them with Golden Rose Paper Glaze mixed with water for a little "gold leafing".  Lastly, I sprinkled a few Purple-Rita Sequins.

Crafty Happenings

        Hi! I am delighted to be up on the My Sweet Petunia blog today with my first post as a team member!  

Recently a friend gave me a couple of wreath building stencils so I thought this would be the perfect time to showcase a fun way to utilize the MISTI.  

First, I took three small stamps from the I Work for Watercolor stamp set and arranged them on a corner of a 3 3/4 inch square piece of cardstock.  I closed the lid of the MISTI to pick up the stamps, then inked and stamped.

Then, I turned the cardstock so that the next blank corner was in the top right-hand corner of the stencil.  I inked the stamps and closed the lid to stamp.

Next, I continued turning the paper and inking until I had stamped all four corners.

 I colored the image, then cut it from corner to corner and layered the triangles on black cardstock measuring 3 3/4" x approx 5 1/4" leaving an opening in the middle.  In the middle, I added a sentiment strip with a fun sentiment from Crafty Lifestyle and sprinkled a few Irish Coffee Sequins. So Glad or Rendezvous for Old is New Day

Hi!  Today the Impression Obsession team is featuring Older stamps in New designs!  I love Old is New Day because I get to explore so many beautiful older designs for the first time.  I just love this adorable Cat on a Branch scene!  I found a one-word sentiment, Rendezvous, and really wanted to use it.  These two are having a rendezvous in the moonlight!  Sadly, the sentiment didn't look right with this artwork but I am going to include the stamp set below because it's really cool.  The sentiment I decided on is from the Card Sentiments set which looks great with artwork like Cat on a Branch.

It's Watercolor Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers and Brenda has us visiting a relaxing beach tutorial this week!  I had so much fun with this. I found this practice relaxing.  Even though I ended up making sand dunes instead of sand-meeting the water, I am still happy with this.  And like I always, I can't wait to try again!

A favorite Author and a Birthday Card.

This week's Teapot Challenge is very interesting!  I would encourage you to check out the Inspiration for the challenge even if you aren't into creating a card!  My "Room" is the Jane Austen room.  I love her stories and the room is elegant with a lot of white space!  

My card was a joy to create.  I used the Twine 6x6 Stencil by Picket Fence Studios and Lime Zinnia Paper Glaze mixed with Paper Glaze Enhancer.  The sentiment is from the Wild Peonies set.  I sprinkled a few of the lovely Creme de Menthe sequins for a finishing touch.

Watercolor Wednesday - Sunset on the Water

Hello!  It's Wednesday and that means it's Watercolor Wednesday at SCS!  This week's inspiration can be found HERE and it was brought to my attention by my friend, Janine.  

I painted the scene twice on an A2 size watercolor piece.  The second one is good enough to add to a card.  The painting in the frame was painted on Fabriano 100% Cotton paper.  S I framed this and will give it to my husband for his birthday.  

  During my painting session, I wrestled my cat off my painting desk half a dozen times. I do wish they could talk sometimes.  I had no idea what she wanted.  Finally, I finished painting and I placed the paintings in the hallway. When my husband was done with his Zoom class, I showed him the paintings. We had a little discussion about them then we both went in different directions. I went to the computer and a sudden movement caught my eye. Our cat was sitting on the paintings staring at me! This is not a spot my cat ever perches on so she was clearly making a point!  She took notice that the paintings were important to me so she sat on them! She cracks us up. She is a very dainty sweet old lady but still has tons of spunk!  For lack of a better word, she has loads of "personality"!

Rainbow of Color for IO Theme Day

Welcome to Impression Obsession Theme Day!  This month’s theme is Rainbow Colors!  

I die cut the Rectangle 6 in 1 Frames in rainbow colors and then colored the Hello Rainbow to match.  Easy Peasy!

Picket Fence Studios April Release!

Hello!  Welcome to the Picket Fence Studios April Release!  

You know that I am over the moon about this new Cats are Family stamp set!  Oh, it's just so sweet and I love that there is a Coordinating Die set!  First I mixed a bit of Pink Carnation and Peony Pink Paper Glazes then added Paper Glaze Enhancer. Next, I spread the Enhanced Glaze over the Geo Squares Stencil.  I can't get enough of that pretty pink background and the cat!  

Next, I went with a fairly CAS look.  I die-cut the top layer with the new Scallop Framed Slimline Die Cutting System.  Then I die cut the beautiful Monarch Butterfly SLDC Insert at the top and lower portion of the layer.  The HI word die is included in the Scallop Framed SLDC System, isn't that fun?! Lastly, I sprinkled Reflections Gems on the card front.  Don't forget the envelopes!  PFS carries Neutral Slimline Envies and Rainbow Slimline Envies!

For my last card today, I created an inside for this birthday card. I Watercolored the lovely Wild Daisies image and added a sentiment from the set.  

For the inside, I stamped the Wild Daisies in gray ink and used the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Inside Quotes Birthday stamp set.
