The first of the month means it's time for a new Fan Club Christmas Challenge at SCS!  This month's FC Christmas Challenge combines perfectly with new items from the July IO Release.

I used the Layered Holly Stencil for the background and then Nola's cute elf and sentiment from her Christmas Elves.  I love how the sentiment and background work together!  I used the Stitched Tag #4 and for the sentiment, I went with one of the Speech Bubbles.

Seasonal Celebrations for the IO July Release Hop & Giveaway

Hello and welcome to day 2 of the July Release & Giveaway! 

Oh, my do we ever have some cute stamps this month!  I am featuring Nola's critters for today's post.  They have gotten into mischief but they are cute as can be.  

My first card was inspired by our boys.  Apollo is definitely the one that would not instigate mischief but he might follow along.  LOL  Rocky is always looking for trouble and he regrets nothing!  Oh, our rescues crack us up!  The sentiment set is Dear Santa and it has great comedic sentiments!  I stacked the kitty image from the  Naughty List using my MISTI with the repeat stamping technique.   The Stitched Slimline Layers and the  Rounded Rectangle Layers add a finished look to the card.

 

Cats are not the only critters to get up to mischief.  Up next, is the adorable pup from the Naughty List. 

 I used the following dies: 

Rounded Rectangle Layers, Scalloped Oval Tag & Stitched Slimline Layers.  

The paper is from the new paper pack, Homespun Floral Christmas Paper.

Fun With Stencils & More for Day 1 of the July Release Hop & Giveaway!

Welcome to the July Release Blog Hop & Giveaway!

Impression Obsession is an exciting place to be these days!  A few months ago the new ink cubes were rolled out, last month we debuted beautiful paper packs, and this month we have stencils!  So much creative fun all in one place!  There are also new stamps and dies of course!   

First up is the Christmas Floral Stencil set.  This is a set of three, they are not difficult to line up, however the plastic stencils do not line up square to one another, so don't let that throw you off when creating.  :)   I stenciled my poinsettias first, removed the stencil, and then placed the dotted stencil over my stenciled poinsettias for alignment. Lastly, I lined up the leaves where I wanted them to be. Also, new, this month are the Rounded Rectangle Layers.  They are created to fit all of Jeanne Streiff's sentiments perfectly. I will be using this die set often!  I just love having dies that fit the sentiments perfectly. 

The sentiment is from the single word All Year Sayings.  This set is wonderful for creating unique sentiments!  To align them in a single line I placed a small plastic ruler in my MISTI, then lined up the bottom of the words on the edge of the ruler.  

If you are a fan of easy, you will love the Decorative Mini Slimline dies!  I created a CAS card but if you are a fan of layers the Decorative Mini Slimline is a great start for your layered masterpiece!  The sentiment is from Anytime Sayings.

With this last card, I am also participating in an SCS Challenge that I am hosting.

I used the new Pinked Mini Slimline and die-cut a piece of gorgeous Fall paper from the Autumn Scenes paper pack.  The sentiment is from All Year Sayings.  Since the sentiments are single words they can be arranged in an abundance of ways!  The dies, paper, and word sentiment set combine beautifully together for any last-minute cards that might be needed!

A Note

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for Watercolor Wednesday!  This week we are painting loose flowers and adding dark lines with pencils.  I definitely stretch myself when drawing instead of using a stamp but I cut myself slack and use stamps for the greetings!  This is from the More Basic Greetings stamp set from IO.

It's Watercolor Wednesday and a DTGD Challenge combined!  

Our watercolor challenge is Tips to Paint Light.  As usual, I want more practice but I did enjoy painting.  I used the stamp, Wish Flower from Chocolate Baroque that my sweet friend Janine gave me!   I masked off the words because they were not going to work on the watercolor paper.  Then I worked with the goal in mind to keep as much light in my painting as possible. Definitely need some practice.  :)  

I am also playing along with Janine's DTGD Challenge to use poppies.   This year is a fun year for DTGD as it's the 15th Anniversary.  As a gift to the paper craft community, the challenges are open to all and that means a chance for a prize is also open to all!  We hope you will join us!

Summer Fun

Hello!  I am having summer fun with the Beach Fun set and coordinating dies.  I tore a piece of paper and masked off a sandy beach, then I masked a straight line for the water horizon.  I decided to layer the Whimsical Scalloped tag and the sentiment banner for a little something different.

This is also for Beverly's fun "Stacked DTGD Challenge"!  Beverly has asked us to pile it on.  I had glanced at Kelly's challenge to make a tag so that is where my card began.  Next, started stacking!

DTGD - Inspired by a Movie

Hello! Splitcoaststampers is celebrating its 15th DTGD Anniversary with prizes!  As a special anniversary gift, DTGD is open to everyone, even non-Fan Club members! The BIG prize is reserved for one lucky Fan Club member but all of the prizes are fantastic.  I always think the best prize was the daily challenges and interaction with other stampers.   

 Since the DTGD challenges are open to all this year, I get to spill the card details!  For my DTGD challenge, we are inspired by the movie Home Alone.  Since I have never seen the movie I searched youtube and found a ten-minute video of Home Alone highlights. One of the highlights in the video is a scene where one of the bad guys takes a snowglobe from the house he burglarizes.  He then glues it to the dash of the getaway van along with a treasure trove of other snowglobes.

DTGD - Summer Things

Hello!  Over at SCS, we are celebrating the 15th Anniversary of DTGD!  As a special gift, the challenges are open to everyone this year.  

My first card is for Ann's Challenge to Let it Run!  Water and paint that is!  

First, I created a watercolor background.  Then I stamped flops from the Flip Out Set.  Next, I cut them out with the Flip Out Dies.  The sentiment is from Hello Summer. 

This next card is in memory of a sweet SCS member, gone too soon.  She created beautiful cards and left amazing comments. She is missed.   Misti's challenge is to CASE one of Karen's cards.

Making Waves - IO Theme - Summer

The Impression Obsession Theme this month is summer!

 All of the HOT new summer-themed stamps and dies can be found HERE!

First up, I am featuring the new cover-a-card rubber stamp, Waves.  I inked the background in Baby Blue, Peacock, and Ocean IO Inks.  I added dolphins from the new Dolphins Die set.  Lastly, I used the sentiment from the Enjoying the View set.

I am having a blast with the new By the Sea paper pack.  Stay tuned because more paper packs are headed to the IO store!  The IO ink stamps beautifully on the paper with no smearing!  I stamped the Hello Summer from the stamp set by the same name.  Then I stamped the shells with the Solid Shells stamp set and die cut from the Coordinating Dies.

Christmas in July - Impression Obsession Kit Hop & Giveaway

Hello, it's time to take a look at the IO July Limited Edition Kit!  All the details about the hop are listed below!  

 I am hosting a Fan Club Challenge at SCS this month and the challenge gave me the idea to create an abstract paneled door.  It's super easy to create paneling or shiplap with scoring! I used the direct-to-paper method to add the texture with IO Mist Ink.  I used a Mist cube from THIS set.   For extra impact, I left the wreath uncolored except for the bright red ribbon.  

 I decided to feature three of the five smaller images from this month's kit as mini cards. First, I folded the cardstock.  Next, I taped the fold slightly below the top of the Tag with Reinforcements die.  The result is a tag-shaped card with a hinge at the top.  

These mini cards can be used as tags or as a little thank you with a tip for servers!
