Thanks for Joining us today, be sure to stop back by tomorrow for the final day of our Christmas in July Hop.

Hi!  So glad you stopped by today!  My project is a super fun and easy candy Kiss treat holder.  Whether we are talking cooking or paper crafting, if it isn't easy, I won't repeat the same recipe  multiple times, I am happy to say this is EASY!   This is such a sweet project (sweet, get it) that I know I will be creating more, for all types of occasions so don't be surprised to see them popping up on my blog now and then.

I used the sentiment from the newly released "Presents" stamp set.

Sentiment and Poinsettia are from "Poinsettia Blooms".

Sentiment from "Holly Jolly Greetings"

Even though this is a Christmas Hop, I had a little fun and used the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from "Presents".  I share the same birth date in December as my very good friend and it's always nice to have a fancy treat to give away!!!

I had fun playing with layers on the embellishment for this one.

Thanks for Joining us today, be sure to stop back by tomorrow for the final day of our Christmas in July Hop.

Speedy Fox & Friends 170 - Tie it up

I hope you are enjoying a nice weekend.  We are taking deep breaths of our second to last Saturday before school starts.   Our daughter is at band camp today and that means our vacation time is just about to draw to an end.  I always find the end of summer a very sad time and this year is no exception.

So on a happier note let's chat about this week's challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends!  Our challenge this week is to TIE IT UP!  For lovely inspiration from my teammates and to find out all the details please visit HERE .

For my card I created this cute envelope and TIED it up, then I filled the envelope with tags.
For the sentiments, I used MFPSaHC sets: "Presents" and "Columns & Topiaries".  The "Hope" sentiment was computer generated.  I chose the sentiments on my tags to coordinate with the inside sentiment that wishes the recipient, "Hope, Joy  and Peace".

Thanks for looking!

Be sure to stop by Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps a HC blog, next week for a fun Christmas in July blog hop.  I will have a fun treat holder to share on the 31st!  MFPSaHC is giving away one of my favorite Christmas sets at the end of the hop!

I used 4 stamp sets to create my card:

Paper: Bazzill Basics - Believe, Recollections - Essentials Distressed.
Acces: Sizzix Scallop Lace Envelope, Spellbinders Splendid Circles, MFT Traditional Tags, ribbon, twine, button

Speedy Fox & Friends 169 - Weaving

I hope you have had a great week!  Today's Speedy Fox and Friends challenge is weaving.  For more inspiration by my talented teammates please visit Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge .

I enjoyed my first try at paper weaving and found that it was relaxing to weave paper in and out!

I kept my card fairly simple to show off the weaving.  I punched an ornament and added the JOY sentiment from the newly released "Presents" set.

Enjoy your weekend!

In the pages of an Art Journal - 1 & 2

Hi!  I have been dabbling with mixed media a bit lately so I decided to begin an art journal.  The pages will contain my fledgling experiments!  The first two pages in no way reflect the cool journal pages I have seen on Pinterest, blogs and galleries but these are my beginnings!

I fell in love with mixed media primarily because of my visits to Mona Pendleton's  blog so it seems fitting that my first two pages are created with the help of   "A Mixed Media Color Challenge".  It's a fun new challenge with gorgeous inspiration from the DT!

I thought this sentiment was a clever way to begin my journal.  The original color of paint on the page is called Bahama Blue and looks just like the eggs in the inspiration photo but the layers of gesso and smeared ink ended up lightening the page so much that the end result almost looks more like a soft blue.

Thank you to Janeen for giving me some advice on how to finish my first page!

Since I wasn't totally happy with what I had done on the first page, I went to work on page 2 and the second page is the one I am entering into "A Mixed Media Color Challenge" and Just Us Girls #197 .

(The clips are temporarily holding the pages down so that I could photograph the page)

As you can see, regarding the color, I learned from my first page and did not add so many layers of  gesso. This time the bahama blue paint stayed a bit truer to the color challenge.  I stenciled the hexagon pattern with TH Broken China then painted "MPD Destressed Background Blocks" with acrylic paint.  After it was dry I stamped the dots again, this time with MFT Kraft ink. ( I love that ink!  It kind of soaks into the paper leaving a wonderful soft aged look.) I then layered on watered down gesso.

I took inspiration from the middle photo on the challenge board and used TH Distress Crackle Paint to imitate the worn and distressed wood.

I chose the word HOPE as the word for this page and on the back of the page I have written a sentence of hope as well as three scriptures to inspire me in HOPE!
TFL!

Speedy Fox & Friends 168 - Favorite Technique

It's Saturday and that means it's time for Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge.  We had a fun week showcasing Mark's Finest Paper & Stamps a HC this week, I hope you had a chance to check out the new sets for this month!

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge this week is to use your favorite technique.  For all the info and to see the beautiful samples the design team has created please visit Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge Blog.

My favorite techniques right now include mixing different medias.  I began by dabbing TH distress ink directly to craft mat and spritzing with water.  Then I swiped water color paper through the ink.

Then I brushed gesso....

For the next step I placed a hexagon stencil down randomly on the paper and brushed on pink Gelato.  After I played some more...it's very difficult to see that layer.
I then placed drywall tape down and stippled with distress ink.  I painted a little more white gesso in the general area I planned to place my dinosaur and finished off the panel by sponging the edges with Victorian Velvet Distress ink.

To color the dinosaur I used the first technique as the background.

It occurred to me that girls enjoy dinosaurs too so I created a feminine  dinosaur to go to Haiti along with the other dino cards I made this week.  Since I am not exactly certain of the age of the recipient I wanted to keep the card free of jewels so I punched the centers of the flowers out with a hole punch.

On the inside I added a few dragonflies from the new Dragonfly set.

We hope you will play along with the challenge and show us your favorite technique!!!

Happy Friday and Welcome to the last day of the hop!  Today's set is "Presents".

For the July Christmas Card Challenge at SCS we have an added challenge to use Red, White and Blue so I pulled out MME "All is Bright" paper stack to create my cards using the "Presents" set.  I stamped the "Joy" sentiment in Blu Raspberry and the sentiment at the bottom in Kraft.

The inside:

For this card I used one of the gift stamps and made it my focal point. I love the font on the Merry Christmas stamp!  I have to send a little thanks to Janine for her helpful tip on the presents!

The inside is similar to the first card except I used cream CS and masked the large present so I could add the tall one in the corner.

As a little review, I thought I would share a few more cards I created this week with our new releases. I mentioned on Monday that I worked late into the night on a couple of cards, this is the other panel I created that night.

Using the "Dino News" set I created another card for Haiti....
