Scenic Paper & Word Dies for IO Product Focus - Dies

This month's IO Product Focus is Dies! My cards today feature new word dies.  I love how they take a project up a notch and add that polished look.  The word dies I am featuring today includes the bubble shadow background for extra versatility!

 I used the Winter Scenes Paper Pack on both cards.  The scenery is simply stunning. I am featuring the Peace Love & Joy die set and Edges 2 for the border for this card.

Most Wonderful Time

Hello!  

We are having so much fun at the SCS Fan Club Christmas Challenge.  We have been creating all year long and are ready with our holiday cards when December comes!  

I chose to feature this adorable Reindeer Mug!  I would love coffee, tea, or cocoa from a cute mug like this!  Here is what I used to create this fun card:

This is the last month of the Fan Club Christmas Challenges for 2020 and wow, the challenges have been so much fun!

For my card, I selected a Distress Oxide background paper we made at Lydia's Virtual Fall Retreat and die cut the medium-sized Traditional Lights.  (there are 3 sizes included in the die set!)  I strung them on silver twine and added Merry Christmas from Typewriter Sentiments.  There are so many ways to use these fun lights!

Next, up I am playing along with this week's Color Challenge.

I love Old is New Day at Impression Obsession!  The IO store overflows with every kind of image and sentiment so it's a lot of fun to feature some of the older stamps.  I adore these happy-faced girls by Nola so I just had to have Fall Girl for my collection!  I framed her with the Stitched Square Frame.  I add a sentiment from another super cute set by Nola called Here is My Heart.  What is so adorable about that set is there are greetings to stamp inside the heart the girl is holding.  I have posted a photo below so you can see.  Here is my heart is a bargain at 50% off! The sentiment is stamped on Wacky Stitched Circles and framed with Scalloped Stitched Circles.  Lastly, I added another touch of fall with a couple leaves from Serendipity Leaves Reverse. (This fabulous die is 50% off while supplies last!)

With this card, I am also celebrating this week's Featured Stamper!

Buzzin By with Day 5 of Dare to Get Dirty

Wow!  It's Day 5 already!  

This is for Tracie's Challenge and the design was inspired by this week's Art Nudge #24.  When I saw the Art Nudge at first I thought I was going to focus on the color palette but then I realized I have this Cute Truck die set.  I got tickled at the idea of the adorable Bee chasing after the truck overflowing with Tiny Flowers!  I completed the scene with one of the Big And Little Suns and Stitched Clouds.  Lastly, I added part of the Just Buzzin By sentiment and added "to say hi!" on the inside.

Four at a Time

In my quest to learn more about watercolor I found creationsceecee on youtube!  I love her voice and I am enjoying her approach to watercolor!  For instructions check out Watercolor Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.

I took a large sheet of watercolor paper and masked it into four sections with Washi Tape.  I really thought I would have a problem with a lot of leaking under the tape because my tape wasn't very sticky but I really didn't have a problem, maybe because I didn't go super heavy with water near the tape. 

Next, I painted abstract strokes with Daniel Smith Watercolor paints that were a gift from my dear friend Janeen.  Once dry, I removed the tape and added designs to the card fronts in various ways.

For my first card, I used a gift of die cuts that Janeen sent me along with the watercolors and some fancy paper to try!  I used Gina K Designs Connect Glue to adhere the beautiful fine die-cuts to the watercolor paper.  The GKD glue has a very small tube that works well on word dies and other thin die-cuts.  One of the other things I love about this glue is that I have never had a tube clog!

My second card will have me forever dubbed as The Butterfly Girl in my Friday Night Zoom Group.  All was going really well.  I decided to try my hand at doodling so I doodled the branches.  It was much easier than I thought and I was happy with the result.  Next, I stamped Hope.  It's my favorite word.  Then I decided that a butterfly would be the perfect finishing touch with a word like Hope so first I practiced a simple butterfly silhouette on a scrap of paper.  It looked like a butterfly so I added one right above the word hope and it was a disaster!  It came out looking like a blob with antennas in the wrong place so I tried to fix it and it became an even BIGGER blob.  I was embarrassed to show my stamping group but I did and we all brainstormed how to fix it.  Then another friend popped back in and all of us ended up in fits of laughter because I didn't want to show my mistake one more time.  What a hoot!  Laughter is good for the soul!  It was suggested to use a punch or dies but my brain had gone blank so more laughter ensued until at last, I did remember that I had this MS Butterfly punch!  And now you too know that hiding behind the butterfly is a blob that tried to become a butterfly.  I wonder if there is a gem of a lesson in this story?

For the next two cards, I pulled out my Impression Obsession stamps and dies.

First up, I used the beautiful Branch stamp and colored in the leaves to make a silhouette.  Lastly, I added Take Care.

For my last card, I used Mistletoe leaves.  Mistletoe isn't just for Christmas! I am always in need of thank you cards so I simply used this lovely Thank You.

Salted

This week's Watercolor Wednesday Challenge inspired me to grab my salt and create several backgrounds.  I tried out a couple of types of paper and two different types of salt.  For the first card, I used Margherita salt since I am out of my course kosher salt.   I love the cool little circle patterns the salt left!  The word die is Best by Picket Fence Studios and I used just the word "friend" from a sentiment in the Spotlight On You set also by Picket Fence Studios.

Next up I used table salt for this design inspired by this week's Art Nudge #19.  I love the patterns made by the salt so instead of stamping silhouettes on the background, I just added a couple of Impression Obsession Autumn Leaves.  The background layer was die cut with  Postage Cuts And lastly, I added a sentiment from Card Sentiments.  I love the smaller size of this sentiment set.
