A Snowy Christmas to cool off August

 It's time for a new SCS Fan Club Christmas Challenge.  

I had a lot of fun using the new snowfall stencil this month.  I used it with Distress inks and water, glitter paste, and with this card, I used shiny paste.  

The stamp set is Joyous Christmas, and it's adorable!  There is also an accompanying Die.  The new Merry Christmas die is so pretty and adds a lovely finished greeting!

Hello, Sunshine with a Sketch

However, I want to mention one of my new favorite tools! I love the new  Alignment Grids!  They are made of sturdy plastic, so they won't bend or crease when you clean them.  I also love that they are marked at an eighth of an inch for precision aligning! My favorite way to use the grids is to place them over what I am working on to ensure I have layers precisely positioned. This way, I can make tiny adjustments to ensure precise alignment before gluing or popping up!

My inspiration was this week's Freshly Made Sketches, created by my friend, Judy!

Buzzin' By for Team Favorites

Hello!  It's time for Team Favorites!  First, I am featuring the sweet Just Bee-Cause set.  I like that this buzzin' by sentiment is so easy fussy cut since fussy cutting isn't my thing.  This set includes bees and this pretty fleur-de-lis, flowers, and a crown for many design possibilities.   I also used Vintage Letters and a Stitched Square Frame.  

Next, I love Christmas, so it's a no-brainer to choose this fun tag card as a favorite.  I really love the size and selection of the new Winter Foliage.  The Bread Tag makes an excellent design statement, but it's also the perfect size as a tag for gift baskets!  I also used a piece of paper from Deck the Halls.  The sentiment and accompanying die are Joyous Christmas and Joyous Christmas Die.

Stencils & More for IO Christmas in July

Hello, and welcome to Christmas in July for this month's IO Theme Day.  

Christmas is my all-time favorite everything! I love the Christmas season, and I love to make Christmas cards all year long. It's just one way of keeping the holiday spirit going continually!  Since I love it so much, I have extra cards to share this month!  

First up, I used the Dancing Poinsettia stencil for the background.  I fussy-cut Pooh and left him uncolored for greater contrast.  The sentiment was stamped and die cut with a Postage Cuts layer.  

I enjoyed showing off a pretty piece of paper from the Deck the Halls Paper pack for this card.  I used Winter Foliage behind the new Merry Christmas die and sprinkled it with a few sequins.  

I had fun playing with papers on this one.  I used two paper packs, Christmas Plaids, and Winter Fun.  I stamped the super sweet, Joyous Christmas image on a Cute Scalloped Layer.  Then to finish it off, I used a Scalloped Circle for the sentiment.  I didn't use it on this card, but I LOVE that this set has an accompanying die set, Joyous Christmas Dies.

Mini Abstract Watercolor

Hello! It's Watercolor Wednesday at SCS. We are taking instruction from a beautiful video from Karen Rice Art this week.  

I titled the painting in the foreground, Make a Splash. In the mini painting behind the first one, I was drawn to the scarlet moving into the gold, which made me think of change.  So I titled it Bravery in Change.  

I decided against titling them on the cards because these might evolve into backgrounds for stamped images.  Or I might add a stamped sentiment at the spur of the moment when a recipient comes to mind.  

I taped off three sections and followed many of the techniques in the video. However, I forgot several steps from the video as I was immersed in the process! 

I used Daniel Smith Watercolor, Scarlet Brusho, salt, and white Gouache.

Summer Fun & More - IO July Release Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of the July Release Hop!

Let's dive right into it! The other day, I made a fun discovery with the snowfall stencil by mistake. I ink-blended the background with Distress inks, placed the stencil over the top, took a wet rag, and wiped the dots with water. Water seeped under the stencil and left a lot of watery blending. I didn't use as much water for this background, so the result was slightly less...blendy but still eye-catching! I recommend this technique for some unique backgrounds!

Next, I am featuring Just Bee-cause, a fun bee set! These bees are so cute and designed that even a fussy-cut challenged person like me can easily fussy-cut them! I randomly inked the Batik Cross stencil for the background. Lastly, I stamped a sentiment from the set on a Wacky Stitched Circle.  

Lastly, I am back to Christmas with the elegant Holly Frame. The set allows for gorgeous layers with little effort. I used paper from the Christmas Plaids paper pack for the inner layer. Then, I embellished it with sequins, added a sentiment from the Joyous Christmas stamp, and die-cut it with the accompanying Joyous Christmas die.

Christmas & More for the IO July Release Hop

 Welcome to the July Release Hop!

There is a lot to love about this month's Release. There is a bit of Christmas to help get an early start on Christmas cardmaking, and lots of summer fun is happening too!  

First up, a charming new die, the Bread Tag die! This die creates oodles of design possibilities! I placed it on the Batik Cross Stenciled background. Nola Chandler has a sweet new stamp set, Cherry on Top, and it's so yummy it will make you hungry!  

From summer to winter, next up, Christmas is my all-time favorite cardmaking theme, so I am always delighted to see a new Christmas stamp! There are several new sets this month.

There are so many fun things about making this card. First, the new Snowfall Stencil. I scraped a glittery paste over the stencil for the background. I added a Stitched Frame Tag as an interesting design element. Next, my favorite thing. The new Joyous Christmas stamp set and accompanying Joyous Christmas die set. I LOVE that the die set includes dies to go around the sentiments. The die makes adding a sentiment so simple and so lovely!
