Lost in the Right Direction

I am hosting the Free 4 All Challenge at SCS this week along with my friend, Janine.  Janine suggested taking inspiration from a celebration day that might not be familiar to some, Guy Fawkes Day.  Come join us, it's free to play and totally free to register and have your own gallery!

Guy Fawkes Day is all about lighting up the night, so some suggestions are fireworks, candles, campfire, stars. lanterns, bonfire. I went with an outdoor adventure card.  Our son bought his first tent this week and plans on a short getaway this weekend. My husband couldn't be more proud.  :)  I will see if I can sneak this into his camping gear.  :)

I heat embossed the Stars then dunked the cardstock in watery ink until I was happy with the sky.  The fire is from a fun die set that includes a stick and a hot dog! I die cut the Grass Border from black cardstock because everything looks black at night by firelight!  The Sentiment is from Camping with Bigfoot set and was die-cut with the label that comes with the Stitched Tag #5.

I would love to know if you have ever camped and if you like it.

Jolly Impression Obsession Die-cut Day

Hello and welcome to IO Die-cut Day!

I used one of my favorite new background stamps, the Distressed Bandana stamp.
Next, I die cut the Stitched Frame Tag from navy cardstock.  It's difficult to see but this tag has a beautiful stitched design.  Next, I added the chunky, Jolly die-cut word and Mistletoe.  To finish off the project, I tied it all up with a blue gingham bow!

We hope you will check out the team projects by heading to the Impression Obsession Blog.

Mushroom Magic

Hello!  Welcome to Watercolor Wednesday!  Every week at Splitcoaststampers, we have a special challenge dedicated to watercolor.  I am hosting our challenge this week and we are painting mushrooms.  We are following a beautiful tutorial with fantastic colors.  My husband is home and we have been busy with projects, so I decided to use this fun Mushrooms Happen stamp set for the outline of the mushroom instead of struggling with my drawing skills! One of the fun things about this set is that it comes with faces and arms!  However, I used it just for the outline of the mushroom for my painting.  If you like adding faces to projects you might also like Miss Your Face and Sending Smiles.

I used this paper for the project but it's not 100% cotton so does not have some of the properties that are found in 100% Cotton.
This is a beautiful paper I like to use as often as I can.

Oct. IO Team Faves Hop & Giveaway - A wreath

**Affiliate links used where possible at zero cost to you!**

Hello and welcome to the IO October Team Favorites Hop!  Check out the details below for all the info on a chance to win!

I have so many favorites from the October Release that it was super hard to choose!  The Distressed Bandana stamp creates a beautiful background with a variety of techniques. I inked the stamp with Festive Berries and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks and spritzed it with water before stamping. Next, I love wreaths so this Barbed Wire Wreath is a fun addition to my collection!  Lastly, the Country Christmas Sayings sentiment set is a great set to have because it not only includes 5 sentiments but small images as well.

Next, is a Slim Scene that I think is absolutely gorgeous!  I love winter trees without leaves.  I love rain and I find bare branches on a gray day touch my soul. I know,  I am an odd person but I am good with it!  But back to the card! The Winter Trees Slim Scene set includes two stamps so it's super easy to create a dimensional look.  Lastly, I added the elegant "get well" from the Sentiment Set.

Impression Obsession is giving away THREE Impression Obsession Grab Bags - so the more you comment through our Favorites Hop the more chances to win! Comments will be open until Monday, October 25th at midnight CT. All winners will be announced on Tuesday, October 26th on the Impression Obsession Blog.

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to HOP along with the rest of the team!

Slim Scenes and MISTI Magic!

Hello!  Today, I am over on the MISTI blog with these Slim Scene cards.

I pulled out the Birch Tree Slim Scene stamp.  I really like my NEW Original MISTI when stamping a Slim Scene.  If the ink coverage isn't absolutely perfect the first time it's easy to add another layer when utilizing the MISTI.  A fun technique I like to use with the MISTI and a Silhouette stamp is to stamp in a light ink tone and add highlights with a dark ink tone.  To add the dark highlights simply grab a piece of cling wrap and place it around a finger.  Next, tap your finger in the dark ink and randomly add color to the silhouette stamp.  Then, pat the darker ink randomly on the stamp and close the MISTI lid to stamp over the lighter image.  The technique adds interest and texture!

The MISTI is magic when it comes to stamping multiples! Once the stamp is in the MISTI it's a breeze to create more than one background!

I love how the gray and black trees turned out! For a pop of color, I die-cut some cardinals and placed them in the trees.  Lastly, I added a Slim Sentiment from Winter Greetings.

Next, I used a light tone of brown for the trees, then added a darker brown using the technique mentioned above.  I created a scene by scattering Mini Woodland Animals among the trees. So cute!  I die cut the layer with the small scallop die, from the SL Die Cutting System Scallop Frames by PFS and lastly, I used the Mini MISTI to stamp the sentiment, Sweet New Year.

IO Theme Day - Merry Christmas Deer

**Affiliate links used when possible which means I earn a small commission when you buy from clicking a link with no added cost to you!**

Hello!  This month the Impression Obsession Theme Day is Christmas!

The Standing Deer is super easy to use and it's adorable!. IO has a coordinating sentiment set for this cute deer called Deer Sayings which I used here. I don't enjoy cutting small banner strips because I rarely manage to cut them straight, so the Rounded Corner Sentiments 2 is just the ticket!  Lastly,  I gave the deer a bit of festive embellishment with holly from the Primitive Gingerbread set. The Country Snowflake is a dream to use as it pops out of the die easily and adds a fun embellishment to winter cards!  The Deckled Frame is fun for giving a somewhat rustic feel to the design. Lastly, I adhered everything to the Crazy Stitched Set.

I hope you enjoyed your stop today!   Pop by the Impression Obsession Blog for a look at the participating team member's Theme Day projects.
