Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!  Phew!  Did it come faster this year?  I suppose if we asked a young child they would tell us that it's been a long wait but wow, I am sure it was Thanksgiving just  last week!

I imagine Mary was thinking that the birth of her son was coming a little too fast as she traveled from her home to the city of Bethlehem!  Away from home in the last weeks of her pregnancy, among the last stragglers to arrive in Bethlehem, no rooms available.  I am sure she was thinking this baby can't be born tonight but because he was, today we have beautiful symbols to remember this most cherished event.

Today I am featuring a verse from the Luke 2 stamp set by The Project Bin.  I pulled out one of the last of my Christmas die cuts that were gifted to me and paired it with the Luke 2:11 stamp.  The bold font of this stamp pairs beautifully with the silhouetted scene.

This week's F4A357 challenge is to create a night time scene.  For my night sky, I used my favorite background technique.  I stamped ink on my craft mat and spritzed with water then swished the paper through the ink.  I laid down TH Distress ink: Seedless Preserves first and let dry, then Broken China but I wanted a deeper blue so I sprinkled Brushos Ultra Marine on the craft mat and swished again. My daughter thought it was missing something and suggested I add yellow to the lower portion to give the stable light so I added Mustard Seed.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you have a very
 Merry Christmas!

In my Heart with The Project Bin

Hello, everyone!  Can you believe Christmas is next week??  Yikes.  I am so not ready, are you?  I peeked at my Christmas card stash and I did not create nearly enough this year.  I haven't even addressed an envelope yet!  So what did I do today?  I created a card for a totally different holiday!!!  I couldn't help myself!  The Project Bin has a brand new stamp and die set out and I just HAD to play with it!

The first thing I did was head over to Splitcoaststampers to check out the challenges.  The MIX203 challenge is to create a holiday card, ANY holiday.  For my "mix" I took a previously created "wrinkle free distressed" background and die cut the hearts using the In My Heart stamp and die set.  Then I covered the hearts with Glass Beads texture gel.  This stuff is soooo cool.  I watched a video which said it only took an hour to dry....WRONG...I am guessing the artist lives in the north, down here in the south it took more than 3 hours to dry!  It was worth the wait!

The F4A356 challenge is to create with wood so I used some patterned paper that looks like wood.

The design came together easily with the help of the SC623 sketch!!

I finished off the card with one of the five sentiments included in the
In My Heart stamp and die set.  Isn't it cute?

Thanks so much for stopping by today and taking a mini time out from all things Christmasy, I love you so much I could squish you!!!

A Clingy Mix for The Project Bin

Hello there!!!  I am still dashing off Christmas cards how about you??
Today I am featuring the Luke 2 stamp set from The Project Bin.  Before I got inky for today's project, I checked out the MIX202 challenge at Splitcoaststampers and learned a new technique using cling wrap!

Lydia posted a fabulous video to show us how to create this sparkling background.  On a bit of cling wrap larger than the watercolor paper, I sprinkled Brushos Color Crystals then spritzed the crystal powder with a shimmer spray. Next, I flipped over the card and scrunched the cling wrap.  Lydia says the next part is "very hard to do but we must let it completely dry naturally" (no heat gun, no lifting off the cling wrap and peeking!) It would have been super hard for me to follow this part of the instructions but it was time to leave the house to meet with my friend to celebrate our birthdays, (we share the same name AND we were born on the same day in December! How fun is that?)  so my project dried naturally!

For the past few weeks, I have been showcasing the beautiful sentiments and verses from the Luke 2 stamp set but there is much more than just Christmas stamps in The Project Bin store!  I hope you will hop on over and check out the fun selection of clear stamps and snappy sentiments including the brand new stamp and die set, "In My Heart"!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

Christmas Blessings with The Project Bin

Happy Saturday everyone!  Today I am sharing a bright Christmas card featuring Luke 2 from The Project Bin.  I am having so much fun creating Christmas cards with this set!

The negative pine branch die cut from Monday's project was still sitting on my desk and that gave me the idea to use it as a stencil.  I drew thin lines with my paint brush, then went back over the branches with an Elegant Writer Pen.  I added more greenery to the pine branches with Inktense pencils.  For the background, I sponged Broken China distress ink and moved the ink around with an aqua brush.

For the finishing touches, I splattered a bit of brown paint on the scene then I stamped the greeting from the Luke 2 stamp set.  I think this sentiment is so striking with the bold cursive font!  A bit of "snow" was splattered with acrylic paint followed by texture paste snow clumps on the pine branches.

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look!!!
Hugs!

For inspiration I played along with the following challenges:

Good Will Toward Men

Hello, there!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrated and if not I hope your weekend was a good one!  We enjoyed a week of fun-filled family activities that included a rousing game of RISK which ended in treachery and betrayal (I will name no names).
Today's card features a scripture stamp from The Project Bin which is the  antithesis of the game of RISK!

For the focal point, I masked the borders of a piece of watercolor paper then painted the center with Brushos.  After the center was dry I stamped the scripture from the Luke 2 stamp set, die cut the pine branch and added a few sequins.

This week the Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper IC512, is Precious Kitty!  Jan has a  gallery at Splitcoaststampers which overflows with inspiration and she a such a sweetie, I couldn't wait to create a card for her challenge!  I am also playing along with today's CAS405 challenge to add some Christmas Foliage which is the pine bough.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends!   Traditionally Thanksgiving is a time to think about what we are grateful for but what if gratitude was our lifestyle  and not just something we talk about once in awhile?  I want to be known for my grateful spirit, don't you?

It struck me last week that I am currently in a season of life which is overflowing with relational groups that encourage one another.  I am truly blessed!  This card was inspired by my walking buddies!  We have a wonderful time chatting while adding to our daily step count!

For today's card, I chose the  Holiday Wreath  and Joyful Notes Unmounted Stamp sets by Red Rubber Designs. The Holiday Wreath
set includes three different wreath styles, an individual sprig stamp, two sentiments and a watermark style stamp for the back of the card!

Although this is a Christmas stamp set I turned the pine wreath into a
Thanksgiving wreath!

Isn't the watermark stamp the cutest?!!!
