Let it Snow with Red Rubber Designs Stamps

Hello!  Are you one of the lucky ones enjoying the warm weather this December?  Do you think you are lucky if you are experiencing warm weather or are you disappointed as my daughter is?  I read that more than 5600 daily records have been broken for high temperatures this December and the interesting part is many of the records being set are during the overnight hours!  Wild!  Well....it may be warm this December but that hasn't stopped me from putting the pretty white stuff all over my cards this week!

For today's card, I am featuring Red Rubber Designs, Let it Snow stamp set.

I gave my card a frosty look by adding gesso, texture paste, glass beads and glitter to textured cardstock.

The base layer DP has snowflakes printed on it and while I liked the color it was just a little too much so I painted the entire piece with gesso.

I watercolored my winter scene with Iinktense pencils and added a bit of gesso for a little Winter Wonderland!

Before I go check out Red Rubber Designs  fabulous sale going on now thru Dec 31st!

Congrats to Pat (aka pvilbaum) for being chosen this week's Featured Stamper at SCS!  She has many beautiful winter cards in her gallery.

Winter Song with Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps

Hello!  I hope you are enjoying the weekend after Christmas!  We enjoyed a lovely celebration earlier in the week so I had plenty of time to stamp this week.

For today's card, I used Splitcoaststampes SC572 and I am featuring the beautiful  Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Tree Background stamp and Birds & Feather Die.

Since it's been so warm here I've been reminiscing of my snowy childhood winters and decided to flock my tree branches with flower soft.  That's likely all the snow I am going to see this year!

Before I go, I want to leave with you this notice of Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps fabulous sale!

Thanks for stopping by and if I don't happen to get a post out next week, I want to you wish you a Happy New Year!!!

Hello, friends! I am beginning to feel like myself again!  I am still seeing crescent shaped lights in my left eye but they have moved to the left most part of the eye and  are easier to ignore!  My birthday is behind me, most of my packages are in the mail and so it was with great enjoyment that I sat down to stamp this week!!!  I have two Christmas cards to share with you today featuring  Brushos Color Crystals and images from Name above All Names stamp set.

First up, I was inspired by Lydia's Splitcoaststampers DEC15VSNO VSN Challenge to use blue, gold, embossing and an intricate pattern and this is what I came up with.  I spritzed mixed media cardstock liberally with water and then added a generous amount of Turquoise Brushos.

For my next card, I went with a more traditional Christmas color palette and just a sprinkle of  Brushos lemon crystals.  I was inspired by Brenda's Splitcoaststampers DEC15VSNJ to create a card with a circle in a circle.  My circles are the ones around the flame!

I hope you have enjoyed taking a look at this versatile stamp set!  The images and sentiments included in the Name above All Names stamp set can be used for Christmas creations and many other occasions which make this set a fabulous value!

I hope you have a great rest of the week and don't forget to "breathe" during this very busy season!!!

Hugs!
Angie

Butterfly Flourish and a Snowman

Hello,  Friends!  I have two posts today so if you are looking for Red Rubber Designs check HERE!

All month long at Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps we are revisiting some of our favorite sets and today's feature is Butterfly Flourish!

I have had a lot of fun designing with this gorgeous stamp set.  The flourishes  flow gracefully among the gorgeous butterflies and I absolutely love the sentiment style!

For my first card, I used a previously made background and simply stamped the flourish and sentiment. I added a piece of glitter paper and gems for a quick and pretty card!

For my next card, I once again used a previously made background and stamped the image. I stamped the image a second time on a separate piece of cardstock, colored the butterflies with Chameleon Pens, then fussy cut each butterfly and added them to the card!

In celebration of Sweet N Sassy's 8th birthday, we are doing a little "About Me" segment so here's a little bit about me!

We have lived in Georgia for 25 years and in January my husband and I will celebrate our 26th anniversary!  We have a busy year ahead as our oldest is a senior in High School and will be transitioning to college. Yikes!  How did that happen so quickly? Our daughter is a freshman in High School and I think she is looking forward to having some "only" child time at home next year!

I started stamping a little over four years ago when I decided to create "thank you" cards for my children's teachers.  One of their teachers told me about the Splitcoaststampers community and the rest, as they say, is history.   I made stamping friends on the forums, found loads of tutorials as well as daily gallery inspiration  AND discovered Sweet N Sassy Stamps during a release party held at Splitcoaststampers.  I fell in love with Sweet N Sassy Stamps beautiful designs and inspirational sentiments so much so that I can still remember going into great detail with my mom about the stamp set God's Purpose while talking on the phone with her one evening.

One of the happiest moments in my stamping journey came in November 2013 when Lydia, manager of Splitcoaststampers invited me to join the Dirty Dozen team.  My very first card that I posted for the November DD featured Sweet N Sassy Stamps Mini Tags & Sentiments clear Stamp and Mini Tags Die Set and Cathy McCauley was the first person to comment on my card!

Sweet N Sassy Stamps has been part of my stamping almost from the very beginning so you can imagine my delight and awe when I was asked in December 2014 to be on the design team!

I am inspired by so many talented artists but Kristina Werner, Jennifer McGuire, and Lydia Fiedler are among the top designers that I love to watch on youtube.  They create gorgeous cards and inspire me to try new techniques.

I have grown leaps and bounds as a stamper because right from the beginning I found an online stamping community where I made friends and had access to a huge amount of tutorials so my advice to new stampers is find a community, youtube channel and/or bloggers to follow and inspire you.  Practice, practice, practice your art and pay attention to what makes you happy while creating and keep DOING that!!!

I love working with Sweet N Sassy Stamps so it's super hard to choose a favorite but I can say that the Sweet N Sassy stamp set that I have used the most is Welcome Jesus.  I just love the expression of joy on the snowman's face!

I created my night sky with the help of the Splitcoaststampers tutorial: Outer Space Background.

Thanks so much for spending part of your day with me!

Musical Communicaton

Hello, friends!  Before I started my Red Rubber Designs card for today I checked the Splitcoaststampers "Ways To Use It" challenge: WT557.  Sabrina is challenging us to "mark the fact that on this day in 1990 Sir Tim Berners-Lee, with help from Robert Cailliau, published a formal proposal for the World Wide Web" by creating a card showing a form of communication.  I am  wayyyy behind on my Christmas cards so I did a little combining.

Are you wondering how my violin ties in with Sabrina's challenge to show a form of communication?  Violins produce music and music is a powerful form of communication.  Lovers choose "our song" to commemorate their relationship, teachers use music to help students remember information, praise music or hymns communicate worship, etc. Now thanks to the world wide web we can share music instantly with one another via social media and private messages.  So there you go, all tied together for Sabrina's challenge!  :)

I love stretching my stamps and using them in different ways so I took the beautiful Violin Collage stamp which is not a Christmas stamp and featured it as my focal point.  It looks beautiful for Christmas surrounded by snowflakes and a "Merry Christmas" sentiment from the Vintage Santa stamp set.

Now go put on some music and create something pretty!

Happy 8th Birthday to Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps

I am so excited to be part of Sweet 'N Sassy Stamp's month-long 8th birthday celebration!!!  I hope you have had a chance to take advantage of the weekly specials!  This week's special is free shipping on a $30.00 US order with coupon code BDAYFREESHIP.

In celebration of Sweet 'N Sassy Stamp's birthday, I have created two cards featuring  the Tree Background stamp set.  I absolutely love tree branches on cards and this one is a beauty!  The branch can be rotated for many different looks and decorated for any season and occasion.

First up I created a Fall birthday card.

For my next card, I kept it very simple stamping the branch in gray and adding sequins for a holiday feel.

Thanks with Distress Inks

Hello!  Today at Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps blog I am sharing a tutorial using Distress Inks and water. Here's a peek at what you will need.

I am a huge fan of distress inks and water for backgrounds but I have been wanting to try a stamping technique so after a few experiments I am ready to share my tips with you!

First ink up a stamp with one or several distress inks.  I found that I preferred to use a stamp with solid areas such as this bold sentiment rather than thin lined images or sentiments.  The fabulous Words of Life Collection 1 stamp set is brimming with words that work perfectly with this technique.

Take a mister of water and spritz ink liberally.

The trick is to get the ink to spread.

After the ink is dry (I use a heat tool), ink stamp with a black ink and stamp over the top of the original stamping.  I like using the MISTI when doing this technique for the easy and precise alignment!

For my sample,  I am playing along with Splitcoaststampers' HYCCT1525 I die cut the "thanks" with a circle die and added three butterflies from Parisian Posctard.  For the background, I created a watercolor wash using distress inks.

Here's another sample using the word HOPE from Words of Life Collection 1.  I just love the font on this one!  The background for this card was created with Brusho Crystal Colours with splatters from Distress Inks.
