Cooling Off with Piper!

It's not June yet, well it will be tomorrow but for my point, it's not June yet and we have already been under record heat alerts for a couple of weeks.  The unusual heat this early has broken temperature records and will continue to do so as forecasted!  This is why I am sharing a snowy winter card and it's not even June yet. I love to create for the opposite season that I am currently in.  Creating a snowy scene helps cool me off on a hot day and vice versa. So if you are doing your best to stay cool why not grab your stamps and dies and create a winter scene?!

First, I created a snowy background with this versatile die negative.  Secondly, I stamped a winter sentiment and die cut snow from the coordinating die.  For a little sparkle, I added a bit of glitter glue to the snow. Next, I stamped, colored this Piper.  Lastly, I die cut Piper with the coordinating die.  And that's it!  A sweet winter scene on a scorching day!
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you sunshine if you are cold and a cool breeze if you are in heat advisory conditions!

I came up with the idea for this card because of the Fan Club Christmas challenge at SCS.  I can't mention what exactly inspired me but I love how it turned out!  The bunny was chosen because of the perfectly wonderful site Julie chose for the Inspiration Challenge this week!

Next up is a card I created for the Free For All challenge at Splitcoaststampers. I was invited to join the Free For All Challenge Team and I am thrilled!  As the hostess for my first challenge, I posted three of my favorite things and participants can choose as many of my favorite things to add to their cards as they wish!  For this card, I am using all three of my favorite things: a cat, the color pink, and the wrinkle free distress technique.

I stamped Sasha in Black Hybrid Ink then I masked her eyes.  I dipped the entire paper in watery distress ink and  I dried it with a heat gun.  Lastly, I tapped the paper in the remaining ink splatters.  To finish off the card I added a bow then stamped a sentiment from Sophie Kitten.

That's it for me today!  Thanks so much for stopping by and taking a look at my projects!

Stamping Friends Trifecta Blog Hop & Giveaway

Welcome to the Stamping Friends Trifecta Blog Hop!  Picket Fence Studios, Gina K Designs, and My Sweet Petunia are creating together today!

My art projects always begin with opening my MISTI!  I don't stamp without it!  I started by stamping a sentiment from Small Ways to Say Thank You by Picket Fence Studios multiple times.

Next, I used the small Cut Align ruler and cut the sentiments.  This ruler is so cool! It has so many measurement grids, it's easy to line up the sentiment and get a straight cut.  Normally, I struggle with cutting tiny sentiments evenly but with the Cut-Align it was easy to do.

I decided to see how the Cut-Align would work for creating long and very thin strips of cardstock.  As much as I have tried I have never been able to cut tiny strips straight when using any of my paper cutters.  I cut 6 thin strips of GKD Jelly Bean Green Pure Luxury Cardstock and I was delighted with the results using the large Cut-Align ruler!

The Elegant Aster Stamp set by Gina K Designs is gorgeous and includes a trio of blooms which I stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed.  Next, I die cut the flowers with the Elegant Asters Die set.  Lastly, I added color to the petals using my Life Changing Blender Brushes.

Then it was time to put the card together.  I arranged the thin Jelly Bean Green strips on the right side of the card, then stamped the large "Thank You" from Ways To Say Thank You by Picket Fence Studios.  Next, I arranged the Asters and added enamel dots to the centers. Lastly, I added one of the sentiment strips I cut at the beginning of the project.

With this card, I am featuring the color pink as one of my favorite things for this week's Free For All Challenge at Splitcoaststampers!

For my second card, I used the Mini MISTI.  Oh, my!  I love this little tool. It's just right for card projects!  I love how lightweight the Mini is and it doesn't take up much workspace.  For the first time, I can even imagine the possibility of stamping on the go!  I believe I will be investing in a couple more Minis soon!

I stamped the Wishes sentiment from the Wishes Mini Set by Gina K Designs on a piece of 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 inch cardstock. (Wishes Die sold separately) Next, I stamped "Sending" and "Warm" on a separate piece of cardstock and cut them apart with the small Cut Align ruler.

For my next step, I stamped the Chirp Chirp birds by Picket Fence Studios, colored the little trio and die cut them with coordinating dies.  Then, I remembered I have several packs of Gina K Designs Patterned Paper in my stash so I pulled out the stacks and decided on this plaid from Poppy Prints.  That's another thing I want to add to my inventory, more Gina K Patterned Paper!  Gina K paper is lovely!

IO Old is New - Father's Day

Today at Impression Obsession we are featuring our classic stamps!  When I saw this classic truck stamp I thought, Father's Day card.  I think I will also create a thank you card with it soon.
The orb in the background could be the sun but I decided to go for a moon and created an evening sky.  After coloring the sky blue I colored everything but the truck in grays. Did you notice there is a cat sitting on the barrel?  I love it!

The Impression Obsession team has set aside a couple days a month to share new projects using beautiful classic stamps. You can see the list of today’s participants on the Impression Obsession Blog at 6 am CT.

I am also playing along with today's CAS challenge at SCS - Go Outside.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Don't forget there's plenty of time to participate in the current Impression Obsession challenge!  You could be a lucky winner!  Check out all the details on the Impression Obsession blog!

Quite Extraordinary

There are so many reasons to love Saturday and one of them is the Inspiration Challenge at SCS.  This week Brenda is taking us to a wonderful furniture store for our inspiration.  I found this beautiful wall decor and it made me think of this fabulous quote by CS Lewis.

When I first saw this sentiment from the Impression Obsession "Quotes" category, I thought of all the beautiful hikes and backpacking trips my husband and I have taken.  Even though this makes me think of hiking it was particularly fitting this week.

We celebrated our daughter's graduation on Thursday night.  Fortunately, it didn't rain but the heat was intense. Despite the heat, this week has had quite an extraordinary effect on me.  The trees seemed greener, the sun was hotter and the clouds were puffier!

Picket Fence Birthday Winner!

So this card comes with an amusing story!  I love looking at my stamps and dies and coming up with different ways to use them so when I looked at the Flower Negative Die, I wondered what it would look like if I die cut them twice making a partial circle. A few days later Jen posted a gorgeous card using the die in the same way!!  Turns out on the same afternoon in different states we came up with the same idea!  For my card, I used cardstock but Jen created a gorgeous background with alcohol ink.  If you haven't seen it you need to check it out!

I recently watched a video on heat embossing so I decided to give white embossing on black one more try before giving up on the idea for good. I heat embossed one of the sentiments from Best Mom I Know and I had success!

As promised I have a winner for the $100.00 Gift Voucher.

Wendy Lambert you are my winner!
Please contact me with your email address before May 30th.
