Masculine Thank You

I get together with a small group of women every other week.  We have a great time of encouragement and laughter along with some serious talks.  One of our friends gave each of us a book her husband made for us from the curriculum we use.  It is so helpful to have the information in book form instead of having to connect online when we meet.  As a result of this sweet gift, I needed a masculine "thank you" card!

First, I found a "Freshly Made Sketch" from 2016.  I was excited to find a sketch with a circular shape so that I could use the new circular grunge stamp. I flipped the sketch so that the circular shape is on the lower portion instead of the upper.  Then I stamped one of the guys from this masculine set. I love this set because it makes it so easy to create interesting guy cards!  Next, I added the new seriously word die cut and stamped just the "thank you" of one of the sentiments from the masculine set.  I struggle with getting layers aligned evenly so I placed my small Cut Align ruler along the left edge of the card. There are plenty of measurements on the ruler so it was a snap to align the yellow layer 3/8 of an inch from the end of the left side of the card base.

This week Stacy is our hostess for the IC at SCS.  She has chosen a shoe store to inspire us and I found bright yellow low tops you can find more info HERE.

That's it for me today, thanks so much for stopping by!

IO Old is New - This Land

Today at Impression Obsession we are featuring our classic stamps in fresh designs.

Since the 4th of July is around the corner and this week's CAS challenge is Summer Activities I thought it was a great time to feature this fabulous classic mailbox! Because my husband's days off rotate and he works many 4th of Julys we don't really have a holiday tradition.  However, we do have happy memories of things we have done when he has had the 4th off.   Several years we spent the day at a large Garden park and watched the fireworks once it was dark, we have gone to the high school and watched fireworks and one year we celebrated with my husband's family in MN, that was a lot of fun! One of my husband's favorite things to do is buy BBQ at the itty bitty town 3 miles from our house.  The men from a local church spend all night making the BBQ as a fundraiser.

So in celebrations of the 4th and the CAS Challenge, I created a summer scene with the Patriotic Mailbox and the Serendipity Seasons Dies.

The Impression Obsession team has set aside a couple of days a month to share new projects using beautiful classic stamps.  You can check out the list of today's participants on the Impression Obsession Blog!

Thanks for stopping by.  I would love to what activity you love to do in summer!

Red, White, Blue

Aggh!  4th of July is next week!  How did it get here so fast?!  I am curious to see if I have the usual 4th of July blues.  Usually, on the 4th of July, I am so sad that summer is almost over and the kids head back to school but this year begins a new adventure as the baby of the family heads to college and an empty nest awaits.  I am kind of excited right now so we shall see how I feel next week!

To celebrate the 4th I created a fun watery background with distress inks.  I die cut the Impression Obsession tag and stamped the tall candles.  Next, I watercolored the candles with distress inks.  Lastly, I stamped the red white and blue sentiment masking off the words and stamping them one at a time in their corresponding colors.

Today I am playing along with the Featured Stamper Challenge at SCS.  Julee Tillman is our Featured Stamper and she is truly amazing!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Wishing you lots of sunshine this week unless you desperately need rain and then I wish you rain! :)

Anything is Possible & a Winner

Happy Saturday!  Brenda is our hostess for this week's Inspiration Challenge at SCS and she chose a site with unique fabrics. I found THIS fabric and it made me think of the Damask Stencil by Picket Fence Studios.

Earlier this month we attended college orientation for our daughter.  The President's wife spoke to us from a mom's point of view.  One of her suggestions was to buy a stack of cards and have a few $5.00 and $10.00 bills set aside so that it will be easy to pop a card in the mail every now and then.  I think that is a sweet idea so I have been creating my stash of cards.  I chose the "anything is possible" sentiment from the Pretty Birds set,(check the end of this post for the different ways this set is sold)  thinking my girl just might need a boost on a test week.

I had a lot of fun adding eye shadow, an earring, and gems in Sandra's hair!

I made the background lickety split with the fabulous Life Changing Blender Brush.

I hope you have enjoyed this card and are inspired to create something!

Impression Obsession Challenge - Sending Sunshine

It's time for a new Impression Obsession Challenge and you can play along with us!  The theme for the next two weeks is Sending Sunshine.

I simply adore these girls by Nola Chandler, they are just so happy! I smiled the entire time I colored Summertime girl.  When I was younger my hair would lighten at the ends during the summer so I thought I would give my happy beachgoer a summer hairdo.  I think she is all set for a great day under the sun!  Since I don't have a "sending sunshine" sentiment I went with "sending smiles" from the Card Sentiments set.

The challenge is up and you are invited to play along for a chance to win a $25.00 Gift Voucher to the IO store!  The winning project will be chosen at random and will be showcased on the IO blog!  Stop by the Impression Obsession blog for all the details and check out all of the DT samples!

I can't wait to see what you create!

This card will also be for the F4A487 challenge at SCS!

I am also playing along with Freshly Made Sketches #393.

Die Cut Obsesson - Summer Leaves

It's always fun to see where die cuts will take me so I love Die Cut Obsession days at Impression Obsession!

Today, I am featuring a leaf die from the Serendipity Dies at Impression Obsession.  First, I die cut the leaves pattern from my white card stock panel.  Next, I tucked a previously made background behind the die cut.  Then, I added two more leaves to the bottom of the die cut from a stack of leaves I had die cut while playing around with a different design.   Lastly, I die cut the thanks and for the finishing touch added some itty bitty gems.

The IO team has lots of inspiration for you today so hop on over to the Impression Obsession Blog for links to all the participant's posts.

A Cute Critter Litter & Giveaway

I love playing along with challenges at Splitcoaststampers.  I enjoy seeing what other card makers create and chatting with them.  As a result, I looked at a couple of challenges while working on projects for the new Picket Fence Studios Release.   Lisa hosted a Cute Critter Challenge and Stef is hosting an adorable inspiration site this week.  The inspiration photo I chose is a darling white felt cat so I decided to keep my cats white with just a hint of red here and there.  This set has several fun sentiments but I think this sentiment from the pet rescue set is perfect for this cute critter litter!

Today is the 2nd opportunity to leave a comment to be entered in my drawing for the very beautiful Jordan Girl to give away!    Simply leave a comment and let me know what makes your Cute Critter list!  If you missed yesterday's Picket Fence Studios Release day
feel free to scroll down to yesterday's post and leave a comment for a second chance to win! Commenting will be open until the 20th and the winner will be announced June 22nd.

You can check out the entire new release HERE!

Picket Fence Release Day & a Giveaway!

It's release day at Picket Fence Studios and I can't wait to show you the new items in the store!  First up is the very chic Claire.  For the background, I inked the new diamond patterned stencil with distress inks, and spritzed with water then placed it on cardstock.  Lastly, I added a sentiment from a fun little set of six sentiments all with the word "because".

I can't get enough of the coordinating dies.  The dies make it so easy to create cards with colorful backgrounds.  Create the background, color a BFF Girl and die cut, no tricky fussy cutting needed!

For my next card, I created a fun outdoor scene with a simple watercolor background.

I colored the hen house then die cut it with the coordinating die.  I also colored one of the chickens and die cut it.  I took an Exacto knife and made a slice in the doorway just big enough to slide the chicken in so that it's peeping out the doorway.

(This card is for the F4A486 Challenge at SCS)

Not only does the June release have a cute chicken coop set but there is also this fun chicken set with eggs and coordinating dies too!

My last project is bright and cheerful.  First I used a stencil to add brushstrokes then I added the lovely two-piece word die cut.  Easy and fun!

You can check out the entire new release HERE!

As promised I have a giveaway!  I have beautiful Jordan Girl to give away!   You have two chances to win.  Simply tell me your favorite way to create backgrounds then come back tomorrow to view more projects and leave a comment on tomorrow's post.  Commenting will be open until the 20th and the winner will be announced June 22nd.

Have a fabulous day!
