Renewal for Good Friday

Hello.  It's Good Friday today and it's also my turn to host the Free 4 All Challenge at SCS so I decided on Renewal as our theme.  Easter and Spring make us think of the newness of life so my challenge is to take something old and give it fresh life on a new project.

What first comes to mind is taking any old art supply from our stash to create a fresh project which is actually what I did for both my cards.  I also thought of some other fun ideas like, taking an old card and using it to jump-start a new one or using a vintage image as the focal point.  There are numerous ways to interpret this challenge and we would love for you to join us here at SCS.

For my first card, I featured the April Kit from Impression Obsession.  I also followed along with this week's Art Nudge #94.  I found my "old" in the bottom of my huge fabric cabinet.  I have three fabric cabinets, the kind that holds fabric patterns in a fabric store, and the bottom drawer of the middle cabinet is nothing but embellishments (mostly from my early stamping days).  It's in that bottom drawer that I found the sticky green fiber ribbon.  I purchased it many years ago and the fun part about it is that it has a sticky side so there is no issue with how to attach it to the card.  While I was in that drawer, I decided I might as well add some gems.  My card features something old in a fresh spring design.

While I was rummaging in my bottom drawer I found this forgotten bird!  I also found the already splattered card base in my stash.  I don't even remember creating it but it works perfectly with the bird.  The sentiment is from an older set called Seasonal Palette and it's on clearance now! This is a beautiful set, and there are only a few left in the store!  And that completes my older items in a fresh design!

Here's a look at a card I created a few years ago with the Seasonal Palette.  There are so many options with this set!

I hope this weekend is full of meaning for you.  I wish you
peace and many blessings this holiday weekend.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. Beautiful cards Angie, and I love your description of your finds when 'rummaging' :) - I call it fossicking in my drawers.
