WOYWW #256 - leftover bits and starting bits

Good Wednesday to you!  If it's Wednesday it must be "What's on your workdesk? Wednesday".  Julie is going to celebrate her 5th anniversary of  W0YWW in just a few weeks.  To check out all the Wednesday fun, see Julie's blog HERE.

So what do we spy on my desk today?

Starting from top left:
1) Bits of images that I have been working on that didn't make the cut for PPRS Monday Inspiration Posts.
2) PPRS stamps I used to create a card on Monday.  It turned out so pretty!  I sent it for publication so I am keeping fingers crossed!  :)
3) Laser level!!!  My new aligning tool!  I picked this fun little tip up from Lydia at Understandblue.
4) 50% off wood pieces from Hobby Lobby,  purchased just as I received an urgent phone call to come pick up daughter from ballet due to a tornado sighted!!!
5) Portions of my acrylic blocks
6) PPRS dies used on projects this week.
7) A teasing peek at the stamp I am going to use in a few minutes to create a card for Saturday's Speedy challenge.
8) My daughter's school pics, placed on the stamp desk last night because it was the only place I could think of that would be safe from getting bent.

That's a look at my workdesk early this Wednesday morning!  I hope you have a wonderful and productive day.  I can't wait to see what's on everyone's desk this morning!!!

PPRS Monday Inspiration

Howdy Partner!  It's Monday and you know what that means...Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps Monday Inspiration!  For today's card I used:  HH0160 Bobby Bronco and DD0214 Howdy Partner Stacked.

I thought it would be fun to give this little cowboy a real lasso to hold.  I paper pieced his gloves, cutting a slit in the hand so he could hold the upper part of the lasso then wound the remaining rope,  placing it under his other paper pieced hand so that he could "hold" the coil of rope.

That's it for me friends!  I hope you  will stop by PPRS blog for more Monday Inspiration from the talented Design Team!

My List:
Accessories: corner punch, Marvy label punch, twine.

Speedy Fox & Friends 209 - Rain

Hello Friends!  I hope you are enjoying a lovely Saturday.  This week's Speedy Challenge is RAIN.  I love the rain.  I think I live in the wrong state, actually.  We have too many sunshiny days for my liking.  I just love a gray day with lots of rain.  I am not a thunderstorm lover, and please let the sun shine if I am out camping but otherwise, bring on the rain!  Sadly there isn't any rain in the next few days so paper rain has to be good enough!

I used this weeks SCS sketch challenge SC485 for the card design.  The stamp set is one of my favorite MFP sets, Rain Clouds... huh, imagine that!

On the inside I finished off the thought "Rainy Day?" with "Let me be your UMBRELLA".

I hope you will pop on by Speedy Fox & Friends blog and enter your project for a chance to win a prize.  While you are there you can check out all the fab creations from the Design Team!

WOYWW #255 - gift from South Africa!

I am participating in Julie's "What's on your workdesk Wednesday" with a shot of a gift from my friend Petra in South Africa!  Stop by Julie's blog to join in WOYWW fun!

So let's check out what's on my desk today.

I met Petra Swart at Splitcoaststampers.com when we visited one another's gallery and before we knew it we were emailing regularly.  Petra asked me if I could send her something that she couldn't get in South Africa and I was happy to do it, in return she sent me this incredible goodie box.  Check out the cool corrugated box decorated with beautiful layered flags.  (I love banners and tags!)  I have opened the tape and  already used some plus there is something missing in this photo and that's the chocolate bar that we couldn't wait to eat!  :)  The Cappuccino is quite yummy too!

I think it's so fun to see the postage from another country so I included that in this photo as well as the fun stamping Petra added to the packaging!

Peeping just at the right hand corner is a sneaky little peek at the card I just finished for PPRS and will show up on my blog next Monday!

I was absolutely THRILLED to receive one of Petra's gorgeous cards.  I love her clean layers and look, more fabulous flags and tags!!!!

Please head over to Petra's Blog to see more of her gorgeous creations!

Thanks For Looking!

PPRS Monday Inspiration

Good Monday to you!  I hope you enjoyed a restful weekend.  Check out the end of this post to see who won the PPRS blog hop prizes!!!

For Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps Monday Inspiration I chose this fun trike image from our new Spring/Summer 2014 collection and paired it up with flowers and sentiment from the new clear set "Mini Vases".

I usually don't have a fully formed plan when I begin creating but I knew I wanted to add the flowers for the basket.  I stamped the flowers on the basket and then onto CS and cut them out.  Yay, for my brand new mini scissors or I might not have been able to cut out those tiny blooms!  It was after the basket blooms were stamped and cut that I decided the wheels must also get some fancy treatment.

The sentiment was not the one I had planned to use but then I realized it would be perfect with the cheery yellow of this card.  To make my tab panel for the sentiment I used a ticket punch on the corners!

I hope you will stop by PPRS blog for more Monday Inspiration from the talented Design Team!

Happy Easter

Just a quick post to wish everyone a Happy Easter.

I let Easter sneak up on me this year and didn't make a single card.  I wanted to give my family a little something on Good Friday but these bookmarks just didn't come together for me in time, so I am giving them today.  I made a fourth one but sadly it met with a gesso accident and ended up in the trash.

Friday night we sat around the table and talked about what Good Friday meant to each of us.  We read the scriptures but stopped our reading when they placed Jesus in the tomb.

Today we get to read the REST of the Story!

Happy Easter!

Speedy Fox & Friends #208 - Kraft

Yay for Saturday!  I am so glad you stopped by today!  This week at  Speedy Fox & Friends  we are using Kraft on our cards.  I know it's Easter weekend and I should have something Springy and Easter to share but a Christmas Card is what popped out of my creative workshop this week!  Yes, if you didn't know it by now, I am just a tiny bit odd or we could blame it on all the SNOW pics posted on FB  this week from friends and family that reside in the North!  Whatever the reason when I looked at this sweet kitty from the"Fabulous Pet" set (NOT a Christmas set at all) and thought of KRAFT this is what came to mind!

I used three stamp sets to create my card for this week's KRAFT challenge:  Mark's Finest Papers & Stamps a HC - Fabulous Pets, Winter Scenes, and You are an Angel.

Pop on by Speedy Fox & Friends blog and enter your project for a chance to win a prize.  While you are there you can check out all the fab creations from the Design Team!

The Liebster Award

What a fun surprise landed in my inbox this week at Splitcoaststampers!! Robin (Stamperrobin) nominated  my blog for the Liebster Award.  Thanks, Robin, it's been a blast getting to know you at SCS, as DD partners and crime, and MFP teamies!  Robin does amazing things with color!  Check out her blog here: InkMagination

The Liebster Award helps bring awareness to blogs with less than 300 followers. I started my blog, September of 2011 pretty much out of curiosity and because of a special group of ladies at Splitcoaststampers, the "Stampin' Flybabies".

Rules for participating in the Liebster Award nominations:

- Thank your Liebster  Blog Award presenter on your blog and answer the 11 questions they presented
- Link back to your presenter's blog
- Copy and Paste the pink Liebster logo to your blog
- Nominate 5 blogs to receive the award, who have less than 300 followers and create a list of 11 new questions for them, and
- Inform them of their nomination

The Five talented bloggers I hope you will visit are:

Here are my list of questions:
1) What or who  started you rubber stamping and when?

2) What do you do when not in your stamping area?

3)  Who has influenced your style?

4) Do you like to play in online crafting challenges and if so what is your favorite kind of challenge to play in?

5) What is your favorite type of card to create:  CAS, Clean  Layers, Distressed layers, etc?

6) Have you met any of your online crafting friends in real life and where was your first contact online?

7) What is the oddest item you have ever added to a card or scrapbook layout?

8) What is your Favorite Book?

9)What is your favorite Movie?

10) What is your favorite place to visit?

11) Do you have a pet?

Here is the list of questions Robin asked me:

1) What or who started you rubber stamping?  A random trip to Michael's with a coupon and a MS punch jumped into my basket, the next thing I knew I was making end of the year "Thank You" cards for my children's teachers.
2) What do you do when not in your stamping area? I am afraid that is a HUGE list!  Run my kids hither and yon, spend time with hubby, watch movies (my favorite thing), volunteer, cook and clean and play with our two cats!
3) Who has influenced your style? That's an interesting question and since I can't tell exactly what my style is, I am really confused!  Here are a few that I follow faithfully and WISH my style would grow to be like: I just love Inge Groot's style but I can't make a card like hers to save my life.  Dina Kowal's art is phenomenal, and Mona Pendelton's mixed media creations are simply stunning.  My list is much longer but I better stop or you will leave before you get to the end of this!  :)
4) Are you a multi-tasker or single-mindedly finish what you start no matter what? multi-tasker with single minded determination!
5) What is your favorite coloring method? Copics because I am beginning to learn to blend them but I REALLY want to become a better InkTense artist.
6) Why?
7) What is the funniest thing to happen while crafting?   I am pollen headed and I can't think right now of a single funny moment.  Many disasters....but at this moment nothing belly laughing comes to mind!
8) If you could go to a crafting weekend or retreat, where would you go? Anywhere that I didn't have to drive through a crazy big city and where talented artists would teach me about color and design!
9) Who would you want to take along for a great time? Janeen, Janine, and Brenda
10) Do you try to keep your craft room neat/tidy? oh I try, losing battle!  It is my favorite room to clean though!  :)
11) Do you organize by color, type, manufacturer or what?  yes!  LOL  my solid CS is arranged by color but also separate by manufacturer.  Embellies are tossed all together.  peals and gems according to color. Stamp sets according to manufacturer.

PPRS Monday Inspiration - Special Delivery

Happy Monday!!!!  I have a cute baby card to share with you today but before I get to that, let me tell you about next week!  PPRS Spring/Summer products will be debuted by the team and there's a wonderful prize up for grabs each day of the hop!  I hope to see you next week!

I have been in a baby card creating mood lately.  I am not sure why since I don't have any destinations for these cards but they sure are fun to create.  I love this sweet baby image:  HH0159 Welcome Stork Red Rubber Stamp that I used for today's card.

I was chatting with my sweet friend Janeen the other day about how I would really like to have some paper Candi dots but I wanted a wide range of colors so that I could add them to any paper project. Shipping/handling and a large assortment of pkgs would get quite pricey so we were stumped until Janeen visited  Heidi's store.  Janeen mentioned my issue and Heidi had the perfect solution! A punch!  Janeen bought a 5/16" punch from Heidi and sent it to me.  I have enjoyed countless discussions via email, phone and texts with Janeen.  Thank you Janeen, you are a treasure!

I added a bit of glossy accents to give the dots shine!

Thanks for Looking and I hope you will hop on by Prickley Pear Rubber Stamps Blog to view more inspiration created by our talented Design Team!

Speedy Fox & Friends 206 - Vellum

Happy Saturday!  This week at  Speedy Fox & Friends we are using vellum on our projects!

I prefer to make sympathy cards as I need them with thoughts and prayers uniquely for the recipient.  It was with heavy heart that I sat down to work on this card as a dear friend's father recently passed away.

I chose "MME Moments" paper for my background and went with "Nightshade Blue" layers to enhance the yellow flower DP.  I love the elegance of  heat embossed vellum butterflies so I used the butterfly from "Today Tomorrow and Always".  The sentiments on both outside and inside are from Marsh Silhouettes .

Inside:

Thanks for looking and enjoy your weekend!

For Kathleen

Many of you  know I am a Fan Club member at Splitcoaststampers.  Some of us lovingly call it "the happiest place on earth"!  We have so much fun sharing our creativity, commenting on one another's masterpieces and getting to know one another.  Many of us have made friendships across the globe and even get the chance to meet in real life.

One of the fun challenges at SCS is the Teapot Tuesday Challenge.  There is so much love that goes on every week as stories and destinations are shared for our cards.  This week we are all touched by one of our friend's  struggle with a serious health issue.  She is one of the sweetest people, quick to encourage others and full of faith.  I hope this encourages her.

TFL!

WOYWW 252

One Wednesday not too long ago I happened to visit my friend Stacy, at Stacy Memory Triggers and saw photos of her desk.  I was intrigued, read through her post and then jumped over to Julia's blog the HOME post for "What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday"
and thought I would love to play along.  I tend to forget things pretty easily as there is always "one more thing" to do around here so I promptly forgot all about it  until I visited Stacy today,  a Wednesday again.  Here's my first WOYWW post!

What's on my desk?

I just finished a card for the April Dirty Dozen at SCS and I am in the " thinking" stage for
my second one.  There are some items on my desk that haven't been put away yet from the previous card and there are some items sitting on the desk to give my brain something to " stew"
on while I go about the rest of my Wednesday activities.

Happy Hump Day!!!
