Hello! I hope you are enjoying a nice long 4th of July weekend. It's business as usual at our house as my hubby's scheduled day off was mid-week and doesn't have a day off until Monday. The kids and I enjoyed a quiet day at home on the 4th which was fine since it's been a rather busy week.
The Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge this week is to create a card with a four square background. I stamped the smaller bloom from the HUGE BLOOMS set using TH distress inks, Wild Honey and Mustard Seed, spritzed inked stamp with water then stamped on CS.
This is not my favorite kind of challenge as I am "alignment challenged". I would love to know if anyone else struggles with getting all their little blocks straight across the card front! In the midst of my measuring and remeasuring, guess who decided to jump up on my desk, drink my water and then give me her back???
Thanks so much for looking! For more details on the challenge and inspiration from my talented teammates please visit Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge!
Lovely look. I have one of those positioner things. It has never been used. Don't know why. Sits right where I can reach it. Lazy I guess. I usually just hope for the best and stick them down..
ReplyDeleteNice job on this challenge................Lis
ReplyDeleteOf course you did it right 4 squares all that is asked of you ....Perfect.......Lis
ReplyDeleteOh, I LOVE those colors!!! I think that big flower is fantastic on your four squares!! Sweet! I have a hard time getting squares straight across the card too but yours look great!!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card. The bright yellow flower reminds me of a ray of sunshine. Love it with the purple. We were on the same page with the colors. :) We do that often. I am terrible about getting things on straight so I don't have any suggestions. I have been wondering how the card positioner works so I hope Pat uses hers and lets us know.
ReplyDeleteOh, Angie, I LOVE this big, beautiful flower, and the golden yellow is gorgeous!! Being a quilter who used to love making sure it all lined up, this looks perfect to me!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDid it disappear again??? I think so - have copied it, so here it is again - ignore if you got the first one!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is beautiful, Angie!! Yellow and purple is such a stunning combination and you have really done a great job with it here!!! Your flower is so beautiful and the squares are perfectly aligned!! I love that you have kept the sentiment so simple - it just adds to the elegance of the card!!! This is really a lovely card and I think a fave from you for me!!! Well done!!!
And of cause - I just love the photo's of your darling Storm inspecting your desk!!!! Aren't cats just the best!!! Our Timothy is definitely the boss around here!! We are such great cat-lovers!! Funny how a cat would always go right there where you don't want it to go and would want to sit on your lap when you don't want it to!!!! But they bring us such a lot of joy and pleasure, hey!!!
OK, I'm off to bed!!!
Hugz!!
Lookks good to me - working round Storm must have been a challenge though. I usually just eyeball it and then realise one bit is not quite right. I prefer less structured card layouts.
ReplyDeleteAmazing card. Great stamp choice. I'm an eyeball it kind of person when it comes to gluing things down
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, alignment is always a bother! I'm a slow starter and only recently bought myself a T-square ruler and I'll tell you what, Angie, they are the greatest thing since sliced bread - right along with the Stamp-a-ma-jig!! I can't believe I made cards for a dozen years without one of these rulers. I use it now on every single card! In the meantime, your beautiful 4-square looks fine to me! That stunning watercolor-spritzed blossom is perfect for this design!! Enjoy your Sunday! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteAngie,
ReplyDeleteAs always, your card is just gorgeous and elegant - and looks perfectly aligned. I am sure Storm was tons of help - and looks quite lovely in the midst of everything!
I'll bet Storm was working with the Department of Straightness and Proper Alignment and was checking your work. Good thing you did a good job with this card otherwise she would have had to write you up, report you to the lower authorities. I have a hard time with alignment as well. I use a ruler that is nothing but grids as a guide but ultimately I eyeball it.
