Flowers and Dots

This week's inspiration challenge IC656 at SCS is brought to us by Anne.  She has chosen a site full of inspiration.  It's hard to stay focused on creating and not go shopping!

THIS was the first thing I saw when I clicked on the site and although I saved several pins I kept coming back to it because I visualized using my new Stitched Blooms Dies from MFT Stamps.

The photo shows lots of dots so I thought it would be fun to add a few dots using the retired MFT Sequins dies.  I purchased them long ago but this was my first time using them, it won't be the last!  So much fun to create sequins to match perfectly!

The sentiment is a retired set, You Give Me Butterflies, which I just picked up from MFT for 50% off!  Love those sales!!

My blue layer is scored so I am playing along with this month's Fan Club challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Simply put I love you

This simple sentiment and mini rose image feature dramatically with romantic floral paper as a backdrop.  This sweet sentiment is part of the Deer Mom stamp set by The Project Bin.  I added the mini rose from the Hand Made stamp set and scattered a few pearls just for fun.

For the finishing touch, I stamped the rose and one of the sentiments from the Hand Made stamp set on the back of the card.

I am also celebrating this week's Featured Stamper at Splitcoaststampers,  Shannon Cole aka GracelynsMommy. More info HERE.

Thanks for stopping by, simply put I love that you are here! :)

Warm Wishes

Brenda has chosen a site full of inspiration over at the IC655 challenge.  At first, I thought to make a cat card but then my order from My Favorite Things Stamps came in!  MFT has a 50% off sale going on and wow did I have fun spending Mother's Day money and dog sitting money!  THIS photo inspired my design.  I loved all the white and gray and thought to keep my card simple but once I looked at all my goodies I just couldn't stop with a single layer card!

Featuring:
Background created by stamping DOX in Broken China and Memento London Fog ink on craft mat, spritz with water and swish cardstock through watery ink.
MFT Stamps - Deer Friends
MFT Die-namics - Snow Drifts, Deer Friends, Stitched Rectangle Frames, Solid Birch Trees, Let it Snowflake

Sew Thoughtful with Red Rubber Designs

Happy Thursday everyone!
Today I am sharing a card over at the Red Rubber Designs blog.

I am participating in the 30 Day Color Challenge and looking for fun things to color!  I thought it would be fun to make my own patterned paper with the button stamp from the Sew Thoughtful stamp by Red Rubber Designs.

I had a blast putting this card together.  Most of the time sewing cards have lots of layers and a vintage or shabby chic look, which I love but right now I am really into creating cards with the clean layered look.

I hope you will hop on over to the Red Rubber Designs Blog to check out my finished card!

Flowers for my bff

For this week's Project Bin post I pulled out my Flowers In Pot embossing folder and tried a couple of techniques but I wasn't happy with the results until I chose Color Box Premium inks in shades of Jelly, Poppy, Carrot, and Pea Pod.  I tapped ink on the embossing folder then spritzed it with water, next I placed cardstock over the watery ink and rubbed over the cardstock with my hands.  With this technique, you don't run it through a die cutting machine just simply pull up the cardstock.

I used a heat gun to dry the cardstock then stamped one of my favorite sentiments from the #bff

The center of the pot is ideal for a large sentiment!   I just love how this turned out and can't wait to create more!

I added two little Ladybug Brads from the Eyelet Outlet.  They are soooo cute!!
If you would like more info on the ink I used you can check out THIS post.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

A Birthday and IC Challenge

Happy Saturday to you!  I hope you are enjoying this summer day.   Today is Saturday so I have a card to share for the IC challenge at Splitcoaststampers featuring the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and Bouquet Bunch Framelets from SU!  Stacy is our hostess this week and she has chosen the Vera Bradley store for our inspiration this week.  I chose the coral floral pillow as my inspiration.  You can find more info in my gallery post HERE.

This week was a big week as we celebrated our daughter's 18th birthday!!  I knew just the color combo to create her card since she ordered a cookie cake with a border of blue and purple.  I am featuring the Balloon Strings stamp from MFT on the background and a retired A La Mode image. This was my day 12 of 30 Day coloring challenge and so far it's the last day I have been able to carve out some coloring time.

Turning 18 is one of those big deal birthdays so we took her out shopping the day before her birthday.  She will get together with her friends tonight and then she has asked to take a couple of friends on a day trip to an outdoor resort.
Her actual birthday was filled with "have to" appointments so we celebrated in the evening with pizza and cookie cake.  Our son came home and gave her an art supply scavenger hunt.  I am not exactly sure why the hunt was put on a paper towel with a room in the house totally dedicated to paper!

I just love the sibling birthday photos every year!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Dear Mom it's Spring Zen in Summer

I have been all about coloring ever since Kathy at the Daily Marker encouraged us to a 30-day Coloring Challenge during the month of June.  The Spring Zen stamp set by The Project Bin is a gorgeous set with fun zen lined images to color.

I stamped my tulips and then searched for patterned paper before deciding on the color combo.  I found this really cool striped paper and set off to color with my Chameleon Color Tones Markers.  Funny thing, when I was done coloring the tulips the paper no longer looked right!!!  I searched for a new background piece and came up with this but now there is really no need for the blue/green swath of color.  Still, the colors are interesting together!

The sentiment is from the Deer Mom stamp set that I snipped a few weeks ago, visit that post HERE for info.

I hope you are finding time to color this summer!!!

Rest, Be Still, Breathe

Happy Saturday!!!  It's a beautiful day out today!  There are so many things to enjoy about Saturdays and one of them is the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  I enjoy looking at a photo and allowing it to spark creativity so the IC challenge is the one for me!  This week it's my turn to challenge us.  Splitcoaststampers is a free site open to everyone with daily challenges, personal galleries, tutorials and much more. Just click here to check out today's IC653 challenge.  If you stop by let me know, I am ohmypaper! over there!!!

I am a big fan of Unity Stamp Co. for their unique designs.  I love hanging out at Unity Stamp Co Show & Tell on FB and I love watching Angela and Whitney's videos at Unity Stamp Co FB.  Angela and Whitney are warm, funny and inviting.  I love to catch the sales at Unity which is what I did with the stamp kit I am featuring today.  I purchased three Truly Rest kits while it was on sale and sent them to my friends, Janeen and JoAnn.  We decided to create two cards each and then have a reveal day.  It was a lot of fun seeing how differently we all used the same stamp.
I just noticed that the kit is back on sale this weekend so if you like it.....

The gold in the photo inspired me to open up a jar of gold paste and distress the edges of my layers.  I also dabbed a bit over the feathers once they were colored.  One of the mugs has a gold and blue feather so I used that as inspiration for my coloring.

For my next card, I went for an even cleaner look, I used the same Copic markers as above, coloring the leaves yellow gold but the feathers completely blue.

Thanks so very much for stopping by today!

30 Day Coloring Challenge

Kathy Racoosin at the Daily Marker has challenged us to a 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  Kathy encourages everyone to play along and if you miss a day or two or more don't worry about trying to make up for missed days.  The point is to color and if all we have is 10 minutes then just color 10 minutes.  I have found this very freeing.  I am not fretting over a masterpiece or a finished project just making sure I color something every day.

I missed Day 1 so I am just jumping in!

Day 2 - Wall Decor (I will frame this as soon as I get a frame)  :)
Stamp Kit: Your Wings Exist - Unity Stamp Co.
Coloring Medium - Copics and Distress Ink

Day 3 - Yellow Rose Card
(Image RAK from Janine)
Coloring Medium - Copics

Day 4 & 5 Teapot Tuesday Card
Image - Hampton Art
I started this on Monday and because this is a coloring challenge and not a project challenge I put it aside and went to bed and finished it on Tuesday!

That's it for now, I have Day 6 yet to get started!!!

Can You Resist?

One of my favorite things to do is to create cards with challenges in mind which is why I check out Splitcoaststampers several times a week.  This week's TLC693 Challenge is to go back and look at an older technique, Crayon Resist.

The first step is to stamp the image then color it with white crayon.  Next sponge ink on the background.  It's ok to go over the top of the image because the white crayon will resist the ink.  This was my first time trying the technique and as you can see I didn't get my kitty completely covered with the waxy crayon.  When I took a baby wipe to wipe off the yellow ink, I ended up with streaks.  I think it looks like cat fur so I am good with that!

My kitty and sentiment are from the Feline Good set by The Project Bin.  I just love kitties so this set is a favorite stamp set but If you are more a pup person The Project Bin also has a cute stamp set called Kinda Pawsome.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
