May Fan Club Christmas Challenge

Happy May 1st!  It's time for a new Fan Club Christmas Challenge at Splitcoaststampers.  Sadly, this darling "Hanging an Ornament" image has been retired.  She is one of my favorite stamps!  I masked her off and added her sister. I also masked off part of the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Inside Quotes: Christmas by PFS. (by the way, it's on sale!)

I wonder if you can tell what my inspiration was for this card!

Thanks so much for dropping by!

Butterfly Practice

Hi!  It's Watercolor Wednesday and we are celebrating our 100th challenge! We are following a super fun tutorial with sketchbook ideas.  In this video, Shada Campbell encourages playing around with brushes and not worrying over perfection. This was so much fun; I felt like my practice, although imperfect was good enough to become a card.  We would love it if you joined us!

If you haven't seen my Going, Going, Gone post, I hope you will stop by.  There is a bit of news and a discount mentioned.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

It's an emotional time for all of us who work with Impression Obsession as we say farewell to some of our favorite rubber stamps.

Up first, I ordered Hanging Lavender, especially with watercolor in mind but it is also beautiful in other coloring mediums.

This card features the Make it Your Own Mug, a butterfly from Spring Elements, and a sentiment from Knit Together Sock Friends. What I love about this mug is that it has enough space to add all sorts of different images to the mug or simply color it.  I used my MISTI and made quite a few "prints" of this design so that I could color the mug in different ways.  This is my painted version.

Next, I made a fun shaker with Hedgehog Kisses.  The shaker is framed with the Dainty Heart Die.

I LOVE circles so this is one of my favorites.  The Bubble Background will make any bubble lover happy.  The Fresh Flower 3 focal point would look amazing in art journaling or mixed media and the sentiment is from Great Chemistry.

I am a huge fan of Nola Chandler's critters so this is a favorite, naturally.  This stamp was actually made for me!  I told Nola that I loved her cute girls with upturned faces and we needed one with a cat.  The next thing I knew Kitten Hug came to be. I created a Christmas card but this cute image could be used for any season.  Also featured: Jingle Bell Set, and Meowy Christmas Sentiment.

I could go on and on because I have made so many projects I love with IO Red Rubber Stamps but I will leave you with this last one.  I stamped the Stringed Hearts three times to make this cool background.  The sentiment is Found the One.  Also featured: Scalloped Stitched Circles

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed browsing some of my recent favorites!

Color blocks for Watercolor Wednesday

Hi!  It's time for this week's Watercolor Wednesday Challenge.  It's my turn to choose our tutorial and I forgot two things.  1) I don't do measuring and aligning well, 2) I don't doodle.  Totally laughing at myself because that is basically what this challenge is!

My first card uses my less expensive paper.  It really took the water, paint, and salt well, I think.  I would use it again for something like this.  My only issue with it is the hard lines can be seen on the tape lines.  I added Sizzix/THoltz wildflowers.  (because like, I said, I can't doodle)

This version is on 100% Cotton, the good stuff!  This shows the salt better because 100% cotton stays wet longer.  Oh, check out the bursts of color.  Can you believe I doodled on the good one?  Well, here you go.  After trying for light and pretty flowers on a piece of scrap paper, with no success, I might add, I did this.  I looked at the wildflower dies and loosely used one of the dies as a jumping-off spot for my wildflower.

Gift Card Holders for Die-Cut Projects Day at IO

**Affiliate links used when possible with no additional charge to you**

Hello!  It's Die-Cut Day at Impression Obsession!  The dies featured today are all on the Clearance page at half off except for the bells.   How exciting is that!  Today, I am featuring different ways to create with the holiday Gift Card Pocket die.  This is a super easy pocket to create.  You know it's easy if I created five different pockets because I only create something once if I find it difficult!

The Gift Card Pocket is a Christmas pocket but I left off the insert greeting and created a celebration pocket with the Happy Day Die.  I stamped and die cut the candles with the Small Candle Stamp & Die Block Duo.  It makes quick work out of candle making!

The Gift Card Pocket Die comes with two greeting inserts. There is more than one way to use these fun inserts. I used one as a frame, one with just the sentiment cut from the insert, and in the last one, I feature it as it was designed.  This is a very versatile set and it's half off!   (The bells are from a separate die set and are not currently on sale).

Lastly, I made a Spring Gift cardholder by not adding the holiday greeting insert.  I stamped the bunnies from the April Limited Edition Kit, directly on the cardholder after I die-cut it but before gluing it together.

I hope you will check out all of the Die Cut creations made by the DT!  Simply head on over to the Impression Obsession Blog for a complete list!

Also, the month is winding down and that means there is a limited time to purchase individual red rubber stamps from IO.

Renewal for Good Friday

**affiliate links used when possible with no additional charge to you**

Hello.  It's Good Friday today and it's also my turn to host the Free 4 All Challenge at SCS so I decided on Renewal as our theme.  Easter and Spring make us think of the newness of life so my challenge is to take something old and give it fresh life on a new project.

What first comes to mind is taking any old art supply from our stash to create a fresh project which is actually what I did for both my cards.  I also thought of some other fun ideas like, taking an old card and using it to jump-start a new one or using a vintage image as the focal point.  There are numerous ways to interpret this challenge and we would love for you to join us here at SCS.

For my first card, I featured the April Kit from Impression Obsession.  I also followed along with this week's Art Nudge #94.  I found my "old" in the bottom of my huge fabric cabinet.  I have three fabric cabinets, the kind that holds fabric patterns in a fabric store, and the bottom drawer of the middle cabinet is nothing but embellishments (mostly from my early stamping days).  It's in that bottom drawer that I found the sticky green fiber ribbon.  I purchased it many years ago and the fun part about it is that it has a sticky side so there is no issue with how to attach it to the card.  While I was in that drawer, I decided I might as well add some gems.  My card features something old in a fresh spring design.

While I was rummaging in my bottom drawer I found this forgotten bird!  I also found the already splattered card base in my stash.  I don't even remember creating it but it works perfectly with the bird.  The sentiment is from an older set called Seasonal Palette and it's on clearance now! This is a beautiful set, and there are only a few left in the store!  And that completes my older items in a fresh design!

Here's a look at a card I created a few years ago with the Seasonal Palette.  There are so many options with this set!

I hope this weekend is full of meaning for you.  I wish you
peace and many blessings this holiday weekend.

An Exercise in Value

Hello!  It's time for a new Watercolor Wednesday Challenge!

This week we are following a tutorial by CreationsCeeCee.  Her art is stunning.  I had a lot of fun with this because lately, I am loving circles.  I definitely need more practice but for a first try, it's not bad!  In the photo, the Iridescent Gold paint is really popping but it's a bit more muted IRL, which is more attractive.

Happy Spring - IO Theme Day

Hello!  This month's Theme at IO is Spring Colors!

It's pretty clear to see that my card was influenced by this month's banner!     Lately, I have been enamored with circles so when I saw the Circle Sentiments set, I had to have it.  I painted the inner circles then I stamped images and sentiment from the Grass set.  I had a lot of fun creating what I call, "Art journal page meets CAS card".  Both sets featured today can be found in the Sale Section so they are a great buy!

The IO Team has been busy creating Spring themed projects so head on over to the Impression Obsession Blog for a complete list of blogs.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoy our spring creations this month!

Hello Spring!

Hello!  It's time for Watercolor Wednesday at SCS.  Kia has chosen a beautiful tutorial for us to follow this week.  I decided to go with just one egg for my design.  I love how the colors moved on the 100% cotton watercolor paper!  I framed my hand-painted egg with the Large Frame from IO and a sentiment from the new April Spring Kit.

I am going to add this to Art Nudge #93.

If you missed the April Blog Hop you can find Day 1 HERE and Day 2 HERE.  There is still plenty of time to comment to win.  There is a lot of new happening at IO and all the details are listed in the Hop posts.

I hope the sun is shining on you today!
Thanks so much for stopping by today.

IO Spring Cleaning Hop & Giveaway Day 2

**affiliate links used when possible at no additional charge to you**

Hello and welcome to the Impression Obsession On Sale Now Hop, Day 2!

Each day, April 4th & 5th you can find a list of participants on the Impression Obsession Blog.  There are lots of details and new happenings this month so scroll down for all the info!

Oh my gosh, the April Red Rubber Cling Kit is soooo cute!  This is one of those kits where the images do all the work!  Coloring is super easy because of the detailed image work.  I had so much fun with this.    I stamped the grass first and then I die cut the top edge of the grass with one of the Grass Border dies.  I was a little too enthusiastic with my coloring and colored over a cute little flower in the grass so I sprinkled a few Tiny Flowers into the scene. To finish off the scene I added a  Small Layered Bow.  (I just love that bow die!)

I created the cute chick card with the Art Nudge #93 in mind!  This week's prompt is sooooo cute!

Currently, IO has a category of clear Sets that are deeply discounted!  Click HERE to check out what is on sale.  If you like what you see, grab them before they are gone, they will not be restocked.

I combined the Layered Thyme Stems and the Grass Clear Sets to create this sweet notecard.  I love both of these sets for endless possibilities. I used creative license and made a little flowery bush with the stems.  This would be amazing in yellow like the Forsythia bushes around our home or any number of colors for any occasion!

IO also has some gorgeous dies on clearance!  Again, if you see something you like, grab it because when they are gone they are gone!  I shared a card with the  Hope die yesterday but I wanted to feature it again today because there are so many ways to use this pretty die!
