I was so drawn to this beautiful Ornate Flourish!  It's a very large image which makes for an impactful background.  I heat embossed the flourish and simply added the MOM Die Cut.

I have another little bonus this week!  I play in a Watercolor Challenge on Wednesdays at SCS and we are painting butterflies or dragonflies with the help of a tutorial.  This took me all day to finish.  Ugh.  I have my story listed at SCS but I won't bore you with the details here.  I didn't use a butterfly stamp for this but it certainly would be easier if I had!  IO has a huge selection of beautiful butterfly art and it can be found HERE. The sentiment is New Day.  My color choices were inspired by this week's Art Nudge #56.

A Focus on Backgrounds

 Hello!  Happy Friday to you!  Today I am featuring three cards with a focus on the backgrounds! 

My first card features the beautiful Slimline Mermaid Scale Stencil.  I ink blended with reactive inks and LC Blending Brushes, then sprinkled with water for a fun splattered look!  I die-cut the whale and small fish with the Mermaids of the Sea Coordinating Die.  The Hello is specially made for the larger slimline size!  Using the Nested Rectangle Slimline Die-Cutting System adds a lovely stitched finish to the layers. Lastly, I randomly sprinkled a few Shark Bite Sequins. 

 

Next, I am featuring the beautiful English Brick Wall 6x6 stencil.  I created a brick wall by ink blending a variety of colors with my LC Blender Brushes.  Next, I stamped and colored a fox from the  Like a Crafty Fox Set. (this set is currently selling at an unbelievable discount! Get him while supplies last!).  I used just the Hey from Hey You Die and then finished off the sentiment by creating a sentiment from the Ways to Express Yourself set.  Lastly, I sprinkled three Fire Gems for a little sparkle!

For my last focus on backgrounds. I used the Netting Cover Plate Die.  I also splattered the  background first with Pink Carnation Paper Glaze mixed with water and then Snowdrop White Paper Glaze mixed with water. I decorated the underwater scene with fish from Mermaid of the Sea Coordinating Dies.  I added sea grass from Things on the Sea Floor and the Coordinating Die.  The sentiment is I Love You sentiment and cut it out with the Coordinating Die.  Lastly, I sprinkled a few Purple-Rita Sequins (I just LOVE this mix!).

Impression Obsession Die-Cut Day - Hope

Hello!  It's Die-Cut Day at Impression Obsession!  We are featuring cards created with beautiful Impression Obsession Dies.  

I took a background I created at Lydia's Online Retreat last year and die cut the Rustic Butterfly from the center. By die-cutting from the center, it left a nice border to use as a coordinating background!  I simply used two different-sized hole punches to create the butterfly dots and added Maintain Hope for the sentiment. Hope is my favorite message to put on a card because hope is what has always gotten me through the dark times.

Just Because it's Watercolor Wednesday

It's Watercolor Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers and we are painting lavender fields this week!  The tutorial we are following this week instructs us to add some salt which I did.  For the leaves and grass, she suggests relaxing the wrist and flicking!  That made me chuckle because I tend to be a rather tense artist but I think my flicks turned out alright!  The sentiment is More Fancy Sentiments from Picket Fence Studios and I used the Coordinating Die to cut it out.  I love that the fancy sentiments have dies because I love the look and I cannot fussy cut a sentiment!  I actually only made one attempt at this so I ended up using my practice paper Canson 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper for this painting.  I look forward to trying this again with Fabriano Extra White 100% Cotton.

For my first card, I brought back the darling Sitting Gnome from last month and gave him a sunny background using the gorgeous Tooled Leather Background Stamp. He picked a Flower Cart Flower just for you!  Lastly, I stamped Happy Wishes on the Loopy Tag. 

My next card is another sunny yellow creation!  I stamped the adorable Rainbow Sun, colored it, and added the Rise and Shine sentiment.  I framed it with the Large Frame Die in bright yellow and added flowers in the corners from the Flowers & Leaves Die.

There are so many lovely designs this month including new Slim Sentiments and Slim Scenes!  

I watercolored the beautiful Slim Scene Dogwood and then added the Happy Birthday sentiment from Everyday Sentiment Set.
