Hi! I hope everyone is enjoying a crafty summer! This week's challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends is to use metal!!! The possibilities are endless, charms, gears, brads, metallic embossing powders, etc etc! You can join us HERE with your metalworks creation. For my metallic embellishment I chose square brads, aren't they fun???!!!!
There is something about sponging and masking that is kind of magical to me!!! Part of the paper is covered up and then sponged and when the masks are removed ....it's like magic...a piece of art is sitting there!!!
The lighthouse was paper pieced. We won't mention how MANY times I stamped, colored and cut lighthouses before I had it just RIGHT! Ironically, I set this one aside, unhappy with the result and worked on 2 more lighthouses before glancing over and thinking..."that's a pretty good lighthouse!!!" The sailboat was also paper pieced.
Check out this wonderful stamp set "Island Life" that I used for this card. I really like the different font styles on the sentiments and there is a great scripture included as well..
Stamp: MFP a Heinrich Co. Island Life
Papers used: SU! Pawsitively Prints
Brads by Paper Studio (on clearance btw!!)

FOSTV CHALLENGE 26 - 4th of July
Hello all!!! The FOSTV Challenge for this week is 4th of July! In the last few years I have come to dread this particular holiday! For us it means that summer holidays are more then half over. Sigh....and depression sets in!!! LOL. Just thinking about it as I type up my blog makes me a little ill!!! :-)
I have never made a 4th of July card so my mind was buzzing with ideas. I ended up going a very simple route. My daughter does not approve....she says it's boring! LOL Tell me what you think!!! I used this wonderful 4 letter sentiment "FREE" from Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. Wild Horses.
I hope you have a safe and happy 4th next week and I will do my best not to think about the return of school but revel in my last few weeks of family FREEdom!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the stamp set I used:

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge - Use Score Lines
Hi there! This week's challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends is to use score lines. You can find the challenge HERE. Come and join us for a fun week at Speedy Fox and link up your projects using score lines for a chance to win a stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co.
I decided to score my BG with lines at the top, bottom and sides, making a bit of a frame for my image. I lightly sanded the lines to make them stand out! I chose these lovely Poppies from the new stamp set: "Welcome Poppies". There are some beautiful sentiments in this set! This was my first try with alcohol markers. I know I need practice, practice, practice but for a first time... the image didn't turn out too bad. I didn't have a shadow shade so I used water color pencils for the blue shading around the Poppies then I sponged Tim Holtz Antique Linen around the paper.
I am entering this card into:
Victorine Stamps - Anything Goes
Penny Black and more - Favorite Things (I love red!)
2 Sisters Challenge blog - Anything Goes
Really Reasonable Ribbon - Red, White, and Blue

Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge - Vintage
Happy Saturday! We have another fun challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends! The challenge this week is to make a "vintage" card. I am sneak peeking the set "I'm in Stitches" that will be released later this week at Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. I had a lot of fun with this one. I took out a die set that I bought awhile back but hadn't used yet. It's perfect for a card for my MIL. My MIL makes the most beautiful quilts. We have been blessed to be recipients of several!!! She is recovering from foot surgery so I hope this puts a smile on her face!
I hope to see your beautiful vintage work Here at Speedy Fox & Friends
I played with heat embossing again this week. I think it gives a nice shiny look to the sewing machine(although in this picture you can't see it shine). I sponged a bit of Tim Holtz Vintage Photo onto the white spaces on the machine to give it the "vintage" look.
Here is a close up of my sewing machine. I poked some holes and "threaded" the sewing machine!
Here is the inside of the card: My DH gave me the idea to add pins to the pin cushion!!!

It's another beautiful Saturday and that means it's time for a new challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends! The challenge this week is to use BLACK and WHITE with a splash of color! FOSTV Challenge 23 - Buttons And Bows
This week's Friends of Speedy TV challenge at Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co.is to make a card with buttons and bows! What a fun challenge! You can use any stamp set for FOSTV challenges but if you use a stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. your name will be entered twice!. One lucky winner will win this beautiful stamp set!
For my card I decided to make my own buttons this week. I followed Lois Bak's http://clownmomcreations.blogspot.com/ tip to layer the paper buttons with 5 layers of card stock and glue them together. I then covered the buttons with glossy accents to make them shine! The cool thing about making your own buttons is you can choose exactly the color you need!
I hope to see your buttons and bows HERE at Friends of Speedy TV Challenge

Speedy Fox & Friends - 110
Today's challenge at Speedy Fox & Friends is BUTTONS!!! I hope you will join us HERE and play along using your buttons this week with the chance to win a free stamp set!!!
Although I really enjoy pondering, cutting and reworking my projects to get them just right some days I just need to make up a quick card. With so many end of the school year activities this was one of those days when I let the DP do the work!!! I used some flowered DP from DCWV called Tahiti Beach Stack that makes me think of a tropical island. I popped on some buttons in the middle of the flowers and added this fun sentiment from MFP a Heinrich Co.: Flamingos on Vacaton.
I thought it would be fun to show you another way I used this stamp set. I made this card a few days ago. It certainly looks simple....but I was making 4 of them and I ruined a lot of cardstock in the process!
Sadly, it's difficult to tell from the photo but the middle flamingo is dressed in blue while the rest are in your basic pink!

Challenges Entered: Simon Says Stamp Challenge-twine - my buttons are held on by twine
