Growing in Unity Day 2 - For the Guys

Hello, and welcome to day 2 of Growing in Unity!  I am taking a hard right turn from yesterday's soft and sweet images and backgrounds to a bold and vivid background featuring the For the Guys kit from Unity Stamp Co.  This kit is one of my favorite masculine kits which includes classic images and great sentiments.

For the background, I used a technique by Cathie called Paint Swiping found in the tutorial page at Splitcoaststampers.  I squeezed a bit of Midnight Blue paint onto my craft mat then with a folded baby wipe I picked up the paint and swiped it across the cardstock.  I did the same with Bahama Blue paint. When I was happy with the background I quit swiping and let dry.  Once dry I used a stencil and added modeling paste.
Thanks so much for stopping by today,  don't forget to leave a comment for another entry in the drawing for one of two great Unity Stamp Co. prize packages!

  7. This is very cool. Masculine cards can be tricky, like if you used the bike people would say "oh but he doesn't ride bikes." Planes are just cool. People aren't going to say "Oh it isn't a pilot."

Or if they do, you can kick them. In the head.

  22. Beautiful!! I have wanted to try out modeling paste for so long - I bought the stencils, but still no project!! This looks amazing!!! I've gotta try out the "baby swipes" - neat effect!! & I can't tell, is the plane area masked off or is that an additional piece? It looks so good!!!

    1. Wendy, the plane was stamped on a separate piece of cardstock. :) Oh, you will love using your stencils. It reminds me of magic! You place the stencil over your cardstock, use some sort of coloring medium and when you pull it up you have a gorgeous design. Like magic! :) THanks so much for stopping by!
