From Owl of Us!

I am always fascinated by the art process.  Last week I struggled to create my Father-In-Law's birthday card and had to give up.  With this week's outdoor inspiration of the IC669 challenge  and the beautiful design of this week's MFT Sketch 404  I was able to create a card in no time with the pieces that I had set aside last week.

To create my scene, I stenciled the clouds with the Mini Cloud Edges Stencil.  I love using this stencil with 4 patterns of clouds!  It's especially easy to get great color blending using my Blender Brushes.  I tap my brush into the ink then tap the ink on the stencil before I move from the stencil to the paper.  The plastic stencil makes it easy to pick up the excess ink and blend it on the paper.  Next, I created a scene with the Wild Woodland stamp set and Wild Woodland Die-Namics

Stay Crafty

Hi, Angie here with a festive gift set to share with you today!  I created a fun and easy treat bag using the Half Sheet Treat Bag Tutorial at Splitcoaststampers.  For the focal point, I stamped (Chocolate Enclosed) from the Crafty Mail stamp set by Picket Fence Studios and added the exquisite feline from Wicked Together. For the finishing touch, I sprinkled a few colorful sequins from Witches Brew.  I love these sequins!

For the card, I used (#staycrafty) from  Crafty Mail and paired it with the elegant feline riding a broom from the  Wicked Together stamp set.  I gently curved the sentiment on the MISTI before stamping to follow the circle layer.  For a fun twist on the sentiment, I paired it with this rather crafty looking kitty.   She actually rides a broom but I masked it off, then added some fabulous Witches Brew sequins!

Here's another look at this sweet gift set!

See Right Through Me

The Cool Ghoul stamp and die set by The Project Bin cracks me up every time I use it.  I came up with the idea to die cut the ghost shape from a black base and then stamp the inside of the ghost on the base of the card and use the "see right through me" sentiment that is included in the set.  Once the card was finished I realized I had missed the opportunity to make the most of the pun so I created a second card.  This time I added a piece of patterned paper to the base.  Stamped a ghost on the vellum and adhered the vellum to the inside of the black layer.   Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the first version.  :)

Fun fact: it's super easy to stamp the ghost on vellum and adhere the vellum ghost precisely in the middle of the opening.

Cute but not as punny as seeing through a ghost made of vellum!  :)

I have quite a stack of Halloween cards from past year since I don't mail out many.  This year as I run errands on the last week of October I am going to hand out all my Halloween cards with a yummy candy treat!

Merry Kitty

This week Brenda is our hostess for the Inspiration Challenge at Splitcoaststampers and she has chosen a fun inspiration site for us.  I was actually trying to create a card for my Father-in-law's birthday but it just refused to come together for me so at the very last minute, and I mean LATE last minute or maybe I should say EARLY in the morning last minute inspiration struck!  It's funny how I can struggle for hours in the creation process and all of a sudden I change images and boom, the card comes together in no time!

For the wreath, I used the retired Spring Wreath Die-Namics from MFT, then die-cut the bow from cherry cardstock and added highlights with Copic marker. The little berries were made with a small hole punch and covered with glossy accents.  Nuvo drops would be perfect here but when a girl doesn't have cherry red Nuvo drops she finds another way!   The kitty is one of the adorable felines in the Meow Mix stamp set by MFT.  I die cut her with ease using the Meow Mix Die-namics.  I love how easily the dies fit around the images!  I hate fussing with dies that end up cutting giving an uneven finish. I die cut just the Merry from the Merry Christmas Die-Namics.  I love the font and the price point makes it a must-have!

Santa's Mischief and a Winner!

I hope you have enjoyed this past week with projects from the Picket Fence Studios Holiday Release!  I had a blast creating with the new sets.  Many of the sentiments make me giggle such as this sentiment from Santa's Mischief

I am quite fond of all the Santa images in this set so I stamped another one on the inside!

Why not pull out all the stops and add another giggle? I stamped this sentiment from Crafty Mail on the back of the envelope, which is sure to bring an unexpected chuckle to the recipient, then I finished it off with one of the mischievous penguins from Santa's Mischief.

And now what you have been waiting for......
We have a winner!

Sweet card, again in pink and love the decorated envelope...
Thanks so very much to all who stopped by this week!

Crafty Mail for Carol & Giveaway

I have been checking out the daily challenges at Splitcoaststampers all week.  This week's Tea Pot challenge is for a very sweet lady who has had an SCS gallery since 2007 but she is currently going through a tough time.  We are to add a recycled item to our cards.  I couldn't find anything I really wanted to add to my card but I do have a piece of black netting vegetable bag that I placed in my art recycling box.  After the Wrinkle Free Distress background dried I used the netting as a stencil brushing on color with the largest brush in the Life Changing Blender Brush set.

I am also playing along with this week's Sketch Challenge so I created a tall card.  The (Prayers) sentiment from the Neighborhood set from Picket Fence Studios fit perfectly in the lower portion of the sketch and for the image, I used Dandelion Wishes also from Picket Fence Studios.

Imaginary Extra Credit is going out for those of us who create envelope art.  I am becoming quite a fan of envelope art!  I stamped the dandelion and then added a pretty sentiment from Crafty Mail, one of the newly released sets by Picket Fence Studios.

If you would like a chance to win a set of the three stenciling circles from the new Picket Fence Studios Release just leave me a comment and let me know if you send out cards to people you have never met in person. Leave a comment by 9/20 at 10:00 pm to be entered in the drawing, I will announce the winner on 9/21.

Give Thanks

I have sooo much designer paper on my shelves that I was determined to use a piece for the background of my Project Bin card this week.  This paper is colorful yet doesn't compete with the bold sentiment and yummy pie from the Eat Pie stamp set.  I colored the pie with the no-line technique, a technique which I believe I have only used one other time and it was a fall card as well!  Goodness, the pie looks good enough to eat!  :)

For the sentiment, I found that Memento Morocco matched the paper beautifully.

Frame It & Giveaway

Today I am featuring another fabulous stamp set from the Picket Fence Studios September release.
I thought I had this card pretty much done until I saw today's CAS499 challenge at Splitcoaststampers to Frame It.  For the snowy hills, I used one of the smallest brushes from the "Life Changing" Blender Brush set and brushed upwards from a mask.  I stamped, colored then masked one of the adorable flying reindeer from the Santa's Sleigh Ride stamp set by Picket Fence Studios.  Next, I randomly stamped the smallest snowflake in the set and heat embossed.  With the largest blending brush in the brush set, I created a luscious pink sky with Abandoned Coral Distress Ink.  The sentiments included in Santa's Sleigh Ride all make me smile but I think this one is a great reminder of how we want to be as we approach the busy holidays!  A frame finishes off the card.

I decided to create a bit of envelope art using another reindeer in the set and the small snowflake.

Picket Fence September Release Day & a Giveaway

It's Release Day at Picket Fence Studios and I am super excited to share fabulous new stamps and stencils with you!

First up is the darling polar bear set, A Bear Kind of Winter.  I created a winter scene with the 3 1/2 Blending Circle Stencil.  The blending circle stencil is such a fun tool it includes the stencil and a circle mask!  I tapped my inky "Life Changing" Blender Brush on the plastic stencil before blending on cardstock to keep from getting a harsh starting point on the cardstock.  The blotted ink on the stencil can be used for more blending.  I think these bears are a hoot and it's fun that they face different directions so there is no need for a mirror image technique.

For the inside, I stamped this cute bear and a single snowflake from the set.

Next up is All that Glitters!  Isn't this an amazing stamp?  I used embossing glitter so IRL this card is super sparkly!   For the greeting in the center, I stamped the sentiment from String of Lights since there is enough space between the words it was super easy to mask and create a double lined sentiment out of the single line then I added the bell from the dangling light image included in the same set.

The dangling lights are just too fun not to feature more fully so I created envelope art by stamping the lights on the envie.

Where There are Octobers

Fall is just around the corner so it seems like a good time to get creative with the new stamp set Eat Pie by The Project Bin.  The sentiments in this set are bold and chunky to thin and dainty with everything in between!  I decided I was in a dainty mood and wanted to really show off this sentiment without distractions so I went with a single layer card.  I love it when I can combine sets as I did on this card with the leaf from the New Leaf set.

Since this is a single layer card, I colored the leaves with Inktense Pencils so there was no bleed-through of the ink.

I love the look of cursive and print on this fun sentiment!

I hope you enjoy the change of season and look forward to October!
