Polishing an Older Cup

(Affiliate links used when possible which means when you click a link and order from my link I receive a small commission without any additional cost added to you.  Thanks so much!)

Hello!  How are you spending the last few days of 2020?  I am working on projects and cooking up all the leftovers from Christmas.  :) One of the many projects I am finishing is the last Old is New Day of 2020.

I was having so much fun painting last week that I decided this older image would look beautiful in watercolor.  The teacup is a really nice size to paint. I loved applying a mix of reds to the Christmas Teacup!  I think this would make a pretty Thank You or Birthday card so I am holding off on the sentiment for the moment.
The IO team is creating fresh designs with older stamps today so hop on over to the Impression Obsession blog for a full list of designers!

Mottled

Hello, everyone! It's the 5th week of the month so the Watercolor Wednesday Challenge has invited Becky as our Guest Designer.  She has chosen a lovely tutorial from Lydia.  I experimented several times with the technique and ended up with two cards!   For both cards, I used watercolor as the medium.  For the rose, I started with a dusty rose watercolor and mottled the flower with Quinacridone Rose.  The background was a pear-green wash that I mottled with clean water and then dropped in some of the dusty rose.  I really like how the background wash turned out.  It makes me want to go and paint a bunch of backgrounds!

I used A Rose and now the Coordinating Die is available to make creating even easier!  The sentiment is from Dragon Fruit and the sequins are Irish Coffee.

Next up I mottled another background.  This time with a deeper shade of green first and drops of the dust rose.  There really are countless ways to use this technique!  The background had me reaching for my Snail Die and Snailed It sentiment.

The paint mixes that I came up with were inspired by this week's Art Nudge #42.

Merry Christmas #2020

Hello, everyone!  Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate and Happy Everything to those who simply celebrate the every day!
After enjoying a celebration meal it's always nice to take a walk so I created a fun scene with park-goers doing just that!    First, I created an outdoor scene with the Slimline Die Cutting system.  I layered the tree die-cut for a fun film strip-type scene.  After cutting the trees, I stamped warm colors using a ink and a paper towel.  Next, I sponged the clouds with Life Changing Blender Brushes and the Slimline Cloud Coverage Stencil.  I stamped the characters from the More Walk in the Park set and die cut them with the Coordinating Dies

Here is a close up of the Red Hat Society Ladies.

In this scene we have a dog walker meeting a cat!  You know I had to include that cat!  And in the bottom square, a couple of friends sharing an ice cream treat.  I think they are enjoying a Christmas walk somewhere warm!

Next up, I have a tip to share when using the Slimline Die Cutting System.  Don't toss the die-cut squares and circles when using the Die Cutting System!  They can be used as design elements in future projects as I did with this card.  First, I blended ink with the Life Changing Blender Brushes and the Slimline Waves Stencil.  Next, I colored the Leaves For Flowers and die cut them out with the Coordinating Die.  I grabbed one of the circles I have saved from previous Slimline Die Cutting System layouts and stamped the birthday sentiment from Do Good Recklessly
Did you know that Picket Fence Studios now carries the MISTI?  The MISTI is one tool I can't do without.  I use it for every project!  I hope you enjoyed viewing samples featuring items from the December Release!  You can find the entire December Release HERE!

Merry and Bright

Merry Christmas everyone!  I hope you feel treasured and special today no matter what this day looks like for you!

It's Christmas but SCS never sleeps so I am hosting a challenge today!  I love that SCS is always open and the challenges go on no matter what. If you are looking for some fun inspiration stop by the Free 4 All Challenge!

My challenge is speech bubbles.  For my card, I used the Speech Borders from Impression Obsesion.  I just love these large speech borders! I stamped the Merry Ornament in such a way that it looks like it's dangling from the speech tail.  Merry & Bright is actually my favorite Christmas sentiment so I fell in love with this ornament!

I can't believe that Christmas is here and I haven't shared all the cards I made this year so up next is this cute little Christmas Mouse. I stamped him on a Postage Cut and colored him. Next, I made my own background paper with the Sweater Stamp. I think the sweater background looks wonderful in red, so fun to be able to create a background that is just right for the image.  Lastly, I added the Merry Christmas sentiment.

I am playing along with the SCS MIX challenge with this fun card. The MIX is to add texture and I have a lot of texture going on with a Mix of Embossing powders and spray.  The sentiment is: Morning Stars

Next up is a version of the Slant Background paired with the sled.  I created several of these cards this year in different colors with different sentiments. Here is what I used for this one.

Thanks so much for stopping by during the holiday! You make my day bright!
Love and Hugs!

Scallops and Postage Cuts for IO Die-Cuts Day

(Affiliate links used when possible which means when you click a link and order from my link I receive a small commission without any additional cost added to you.  Thanks so much!)
Hello!  It's Die-Cut Day at Impression Obsession and I have a couple of cards to share!  First up is a fun New Year card!  I used the Cute Scalloped Rectangles as a fun design element and base for Ring in the New Year. The Summer Bouquet flowers remind me of fireworks so I added a couple as embellishments.

I have to sneak in another Christmas card before the 2020 Christmas season is over so I stamped the adorable Stocking and pup on a Postage Stamp Cut.  The background was made with the Sweater Knit Cover A Card stamp.  The stocking set is so fun because there are 2 stockings to choose from and there are three different fillers! It's a great value regularly but right now it's even better because it's on sale!

Stop by the Impression Obsession Blog for a full list of all the DT participating in this week's Die Cut Showcase!

Before you go check out the cool sale IO is currently having!  Both the Sweater Stamp and the Stockings are included in the sale along with much more!

Thanks so much for stopping by and if I don't have another post in between, HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!
