Seed Packet Wishes with a Vintage Twist

Hello everyone!

A blend of creativity inspired today’s vintage seed packet handmade card from a couple of challenges at Splitcoaststampers along with this week’s Art Nudge—and I have to say, I love how these layered ideas came together into one cohesive design.

For the Splitcoaststampers Inspiration Challenge, a beautiful tile site filled with rich patterns and colors inspired us. The Angelic Simple Wildflower tile with its deep navy background, sunflower-like center, and accents of red and light blue, inspired my design. I leaned into those rich tones for my card, choosing to focus on the navy, sunflower yellow, and red, while letting the lighter blue fall away.

Next, I incorporated the Splitcoaststampers Monthly Theme and Sketch Challenge into my layout. The sketch provided a wonderful structure, guiding me to include a circular focal element, which worked perfectly with my overall design.

Finally, I drew inspiration from Art Nudge 426C, which features a softly vintage image of a teacup with a flower floating inside. While I didn’t include a literal teacup or daisy, the round composition, the floral focal point, and the gentle, aged feel of the image inspired me.

Process:

I started with a navy background to echo the richness of the tile inspiration. For the focal layers, I die cut a scalloped circle using patterned paper from the Peas & Carrots paper pack by SweetMissDaisy Designs, following the sketch layout. I layered an additional patterned circle on top to add depth and interest.

For the main element, I stamped the seed packet image from the Sow with Love stamp set and customized it with a sunflower to reflect the tile’s focal design. After fussy-cutting the packet, I rounded the corners and added distressing with Vintage Photo and Lumberjack Plaid Distress Inks to give it that worn, time-loved look.

To finish the card, I added a “Dear Friend” sentiment on a soft oval tag, keeping the overall feel warm and heartfelt.

Although I didn’t directly include a teacup or daisy, I love how the influence of the Art Nudge still comes through in the circular shapes, floral theme, and vintage styling.  Play along with a chance to win a prize at the Art Nudge Blog.
