Hello with Watercolor

It's Wednesday and that means it's Watercolor Wednesday at Splitcoaststampers.  Julie is our Guest Designer this week and she has chosen a beautiful technique.  Head on over to the challenge for the "how-tos" and join us!

The color combo and even the theme was inspired by this week's Art Nudge #29.

First, I mixed paint colors to match the Art Nudge as closely as I could.  Then I added a light green color wash.  Next, I added olive highlights. I painted the flowers with a soft blue color and then added the darker blue.  The colors may have gotten away from me just a bit. I used all of the colors in the palette including the acorn color by coloring pearls with Copic Marker!  Inspired by the Art Nudge photo, I chose a leafy embossing folder.

The gorgeous Hello is from Impression Obsession and I used Lydia's technique of adding packing tape to the cardstock before running it through the die-cutting machine.  The result is a beautiful shine without the embossing powder mess!

Count them Twice

Hello!  Happy Monday to you!  Today is the day the Impression Obsession team shows off die-cut projects!

I didn't know when I ordered this sentiment how much I would need to be reminded of this!  During good times and bad times, it's a great idea to keep a Thankfulness Journal. When a pandemic drags on it's extra helpful to count the really good blessings TWICE! :)

Today, I am going to count YOU twice because you have been a blessing to me all year long with your visits and comments!    I would love it if you left a comment telling me what really good blessing are you going to count twice today!

Here is what I used today:

Stop by the Impression Obsession Blog to see what the DT has made with fabulous dies!

Blissfully Unaware

Phew!  We made it to another weekend and that means it's time for a new Inspiration Challenge.  I found a fabulously creepy Halloween Party photo and the link is in my SCS Gallery.

LC Blender Brushes and the Slim Line Radial Stencil makes a great spooky vortex. After blending color through the stencil I splattered water onto the distress ink so this card will also be for the weekend Art Nudge Plotting to add splatters!  Next, I stamped this fun sentiment from the So Franken Cute set.
Then, I added my favorite flying frogs and bats from Witch Please, with the help of the coordinating dies! Lastly, I sprinkled a few Witche's Brew Sequins for a touch of bling!

Little Bit just loves to get in on the photography sessions and it made me chuckle thinking of her creeping up on the card!

I am also participating in this week's Weekend Art Nudge - Splatter and I am going for extra bonus points with the palette from Art Nudge #20.

We would be delighted to see you at the Inspiration Challenge and the Art Nudge!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a beautiful weekend!

Hello, Fall!

(Affiliate links used when possible which means when you click a link and order from my link I receive a small commission without any additional cost added to you.  Thanks so much!)

Hello!  It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new Watercolor Wednesday Challenge and I am once again inspired by the Art Nudge!

I have used Dina's tutorial before but I used it with the Brushos and Stamp technique.  This time I went with Distress Inks and a stencil.  I had so much fun with this version that I see a LOT of watercolor stenciled backgrounds in my future!

Here is what I used:

I chose this particular stencil because it reminded me of the ironwork at the window on the photo.  I added in brown to get more of the brick red color but my red is still brighter than the color in the nudge but it for sure prompted my color choices.  I even added gray to the squirrel to get in another color from the Nudge!
Check out the photo inspiration and the challenge HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you in the Challenges!

Beware of Cat

Happy Monday!  It's time for a new Old is New Day at Impression Obsession so I chose this super cute Trick or Treat Birdhouse.  I think the Gary Robertson stamps are adorable and as a bonus treat, many of them feature cats or hidden cats!

I created a light watercolor wash sky and then watercolored the scene.

Unplug Together

It's Saturday and that means it's time for a new Inspiration Challenge.  Stacy is our host and she is taking us to a soft clothing site this week.  I found a photo (photo linked here) of a fragrance bottle resting on the sand as inspiration.  I used the same colors that are on the bottle and I thought my sentiment matches the picture perfectly.  Nothing like unplugging on the beach with someone you care about!

I extended the 4x4 All Wired Seamless stamp and made a slimline card and colored just two of the charging cords.  The sentiment is from another great "get-away" stamp set, You or Wifi.  To finish off the card I added a few Spiked Ocean Water Sequins. It's so much fun to add sequins to a card because it doesn't add extra bulk and Picket Fence Studios has a grand selection of Sequin Mixes to choose from!

ALSO if you didn't get the chance to hop the Picket Fence Studios September Release there is still time!!  Stop by HERE and leave comments on all the blogs for a chance to win one of two $50.00 Gift Vouchers to the Picket Fence Studios Store!  How awesome is that?!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Hello with Flowers

Affiliate links used when possible which means when you click a link and order from my link I receive a small commission without any additional cost added to you.  Thanks so much!)

Hello!  It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new Watercolor Wednesday Challenge!  I am hosting this week and I chose Dina's Negative Watercolor Tutorial to guide us.

After Stamping the cover-a-card, Flower Garden I added a very light Phthalo Green watercolor wash.  Next, I dabbed away some of the green from the flowers and added a layer of Phthalo Blue, I left just one layer of blue on the prominent flowers and then continued layering blue on flowers in shadow.  I also added more Phthalo green to the background.  I painted the leaves with Gold and Raw Umber.  For the sentiment, I used a technique I learned from Lydia, called Faux Heat Embossing.  It's super simple and wonderful!  Simply add a strip of packing tape to cardstock and then die cut!  The end result is a shiny sentiment that looks like you have heat embossed it but you don't have to go to the fuss, plus the sentiment strip is extra sturdy!  I used this Hello die for the sentiment.

The reason I chose to watercolor in these particular shades is because I also wish to participate in Art Nudge #27.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  We would love to see you in the challenges I have linked!  Hugs!

Getting Glazy on Picket Fence Studios Release Day!

Affiliate links used when possible which means when you click a link and order from my link I receive a small commission without any additional cost added to you.  Thanks so much!)

Hello and Happy Monday! Today is a fun Monday because the new Picket Fence Studios Release is here!  In celebration of the new Release, we are having a Hop!  Simply follow along with the list below and leave a comment on all of the blogs for a chance to win one of two prizes, details below!

Today I am focusing on new Slim Line stencils and Paper Glaze so here we go!

First, I used the Slimline Leaf Stencil and added both Jade Vine and Boysenberry Violet Paper Glaze through the stencil.  Once dried, I added a bit of ribbon and a sentiment from the new Dragon Fruit set.  It was after I removed the stencil on the first card that I noticed how much lovely glaze was still left on the stencil.  Since I used two colors, I could not scrape the glaze back into the jar so instead, I laid a fresh piece of cardstock over the glaze and gently rubbed the paper.  I was delighted when I pulled the cardstock up to reveal a very cool second print!  I love how the leaf looks and decided the sentiment from Weathering the Storm Together pairs beautifully with the "scars" on the leaf!  I finished off the card with fabulous Frozen Nutcracker Sequins Mix.

I had so much fun with mixing the glazes I decided to do it again this time I used the 6x6 Floral Stencil with the Artemisia Silver and Boysenberry Violet Paper Glazes.  The sentiment is one of the sentiments in the new Fancy Christmas Sentiments sets!  I love the fonts on the Fancy Sentiment sets!

For the last bit of inspiration, I am back with another Slimline card!

I used the new Slimline Broken Fence stencil and Jade Vine Paper Glaze.  The slimline size is just perfect for this darling dangling koala bear from I Wish We Could Hug.  I used the Coordinating Die for quick and easy cutting and then I couldn't resist a little Marigold Orange Paper Glaze through the Dashes Stencil on the balloon!  To add to the festive birthday feel, I tossed a few Spiked Cider Sequins onto the scene!

I hope you enjoyed my take on the new stencils and paper glaze today!  Follow THIS link to all of the new products in the Picket Fence Studios Store.  Also, in case you missed the big reveal of the newest and coolest Slim Line Die Cutting System here is a link!

We have a fun hop with the entire design team for you to visit.  Picket Fence Studios is generously giving away two $50.00 Shopping Sprees to the store so make sure and leave a comment to be entered to win!  Winners will be announced on the PFS Blog on Monday the 21st!
