Hello! It's Wednesday and that means it's time for a new Watercolor Wednesday Challenge! I am hosting this week and I chose Dina's Negative Watercolor Tutorial to guide us.
After Stamping the cover-a-card, Flower Garden I added a very light Phthalo Green watercolor wash. Next, I dabbed away some of the green from the flowers and added a layer of Phthalo Blue, I left just one layer of blue on the prominent flowers and then continued layering blue on flowers in shadow. I also added more Phthalo green to the background. I painted the leaves with Gold and Raw Umber. For the sentiment, I used a technique I learned from Lydia, called Faux Heat Embossing. It's super simple and wonderful! Simply add a strip of packing tape to cardstock and then die cut! The end result is a shiny sentiment that looks like you have heat embossed it but you don't have to go to the fuss, plus the sentiment strip is extra sturdy! I used this Hello die for the sentiment.
The reason I chose to watercolor in these particular shades is because I also wish to participate in Art Nudge #27.
Thanks so much for stopping by! We would love to see you in the challenges I have linked! Hugs!
GASP....wonderfully glorious field of flowers.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty result - seems a really tricky technique but yours looks great. I am assuming you used a wide clear tape over white card for your sentiment.
