Watercolor Wednesday and Old is New

(Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you!)

Hello!  It's Old is New Day at Impression Obsession and it's also Watercolor Wednesday.

For the first card, I followed Lydia's Abstract No-Line Watercolor Video from this week's Watercolor Wednesday.  I painted soft colors for the ground and sky.  Next, I stamped Cottontail in Fade Out Ink.  Lydia's tutorial calls for an abstract so I didn't paint back in eyes or nose.  It was a fun practice that I will try again.  Lastly, I stamped Happy Easter.

I just love the Silly Rabbit sentiment on the next card.  This was going to be my sample for Watercolor Wednesday until I realized that the sentiment was too bold for an abstract scene. I wasn't going to let the opportunity to use this super fun sentiment pass me by so I stamped Mopsie in dark ink and watercolored colored her!  As a kid, we used to say the "Silly Rabbit" quote all the time and change it for whatever circumstance applied.  My kids look at me like I am daft when I use it now but I still like to say it!  :)

There you have it, two cards for Old is New Day, and they both fit this week's Art Nudge #54!

I hope you will stop by the Impression Obsession blog for a list of participants featuring older stamps in a fresh way!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

IO Theme Day - In the Garden

(Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you!)

Hello!  For this month's Impression Obsession Theme Day, we are headed to the garden!

I find myself creating with the Pantone Color combo for 2021 quite often.  Gray and yellow speak to me in real life so guess it's not surprising that I like this combo.  I actually feel the sunniest on a gray day!  The coziness of a gray day warms my spirit unless I am out hiking or camping that is!  :)  Anyway... here's my card!

First, I created a watery Distress background.   I love the lines of the Garden Gate which is new for March!   I added pretty Flower Cart Flowers and Brighter Days Ahead for the sentiment.

Wishing you bright days ahead!

For a full list of participants creating Garden-themed projects head on over to the Impression Obsession blog!

Before you go, the current IO sale is Butterflies and Dragonflies!  What goes better in a garden than Butterflies and Dragonflies?  The entire category is 25% off, no coupon code needed!

Jar of Flowers.

(Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you!)

Hello!  It's Watercolor Wednesday and this week we are painting a jar of flowers!
This was my second attempt and the difference is so startling it almost doesn't look like the same painter painted the two pieces.  I noticed that I relaxed more as I painted the second time and I let go of the fear that I might not be able to do it.  It's not perfect.  I see things that trouble me but I am very happy with this result and look forward to painting a jar of flowers again soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by!  If you have a recent watercolor project and you are comfortable leaving a link please do so in the comments, I would love to stop by and visit your page!

Paradise On Land or In the Sea

(Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you!)

Happy Friday! I am over on the Picket Fence Studios blog today and thought I would share here as well!

It's definitely Spring in Georgia!  We have the heat one minute and the A/C on the next and lots of stormy weather.  So for my first card, I created a spring-like scene. I used the amazing Paper Glaze Enhancer mixed with the new Lime Zinnia Paper Glaze and the Funky Leaves Stencil. The Paper Glaze Enhancer adds a smooth shimmer and it's super easy to use!  I added two cute Song Birds (with the help of coordinating dies) who, I believe are about to create a little paradise!  The sentiment is included in the lovely Bird of Paradise Flowers set!

From spring foliage to the sea, the PFS March Release has it covered!  This time I used Ocean Poppy Paper Glaze without the enhancer because you know, sometimes you just have to have the shine!  I just love the flow of of the Slim Line Fish For Infinity stencil!  I stamped and die cut (with coordinating die) the mermaid from Mermaids of the Sea.  Then I just had to cover the mermaid with the new Ocean of Green Gems.  The layers are cut with the original Slimline Die Cutting System and the sentiment says "I hope you make a big Splash" from One Year Older

Abstract Circles for Watercolor Wednesday

(Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you!)
Hi!  It's Watercolor Wednesday and I am hosting this week!  I created two samples for my challenge because once I get going with circles, I just don't want to stop! I became enamored with circles when I went to Lydia's Unwind Retreat and she handed out cool circle protectors!   The amazing Mel taught us a class on zentangling with circles that night and circles are now my favorite thing!  :)

For my abstracts, I followed a tutorial which can be found in the linked post I highlighted above.
For this challenge, I tried several different papers and achieved different results.  For this card, I used Distress Watercolor Cardstock.  It's very white!  I watercolored circles, then I went around the circles with an Elegant Writer pen and spritzed the card with water.  Lastly, I added the Wake Up Create Sentiment

For this card, used the Fabriano Watercolor Paper linked below.  I decided to leave off the sentiment until I know where it's going.  I painted watercolor circles and then stamped the circles. I would have never attempted to stamp circles on watercolor paper without my trusty MISTI!

We would be delighted if you joined us for Watercolor Wednesday at  Splitcoaststampers! Thanks so much for stopping by!
